Any 2.5" SATA drive will work. Just be more critical of the dimension details when you get up in the 500GB capacity choices.

I would recommend anything 3.0gb/s and 7200rpm. I just bought the Scorpio Black from western digital 250gb 7200 rpm, for 79.99 and free shipping.

One thing to consider is backups. If you plan to fill up a 500GB HDD you should plan to be able to also backup 500GB worth of data.

It was the cheapest I could find for a brand new one. And the funny thing is the guy had to send it from the states.

Its not that great here. unemployment is going sky high and loads of my friends have lost their jobs. Im self employed at the mo and trying to get work is so hard. Still fingers crossed it can only get better. But saying that our prime minister is a waste of time.

I had an 80gb hdd, i have almost 20 games and was down to 21gb left, considering the PS3 is gonna be around for a while and you'll be buying more games that probably require installs along with all the other media capabilities that it has, I would say you should get at least a 120gb hdd.

The save game files hardly take up any room. It the game info thats stored when you first install a new game thats the prob. Fallout is almost 4gb plus all the updates that are released. I had 40gb for over a year but had to upgrade due to the larger games and home being released. Upgrading is so easy and I recommend it to anyone.
