I would recommend anything 3.0gb/s and 7200rpm. I just bought the Scorpio Black from western digital 250gb 7200 rpm, for 79.99 and free shipping.

As of right now I believe 500gb is the biggest. Thats what I got in my PS3 :)

It was the cheapest I could find for a brand new one. And the funny thing is the guy had to send it from the states.

I got my 500gb for $100 on Newegg...
I had an 80gb hdd, i have almost 20 games and was down to 21gb left, considering the PS3 is gonna be around for a while and you'll be buying more games that probably require installs along with all the other media capabilities that it has, I would say you should get at least a 120gb hdd.me personally i just buy a 80gb if you have alot of games i have a 40gb and thats enough for me right now
