Yes we all know it saves heat, we all know it is cheaper $50-75, yes we all know it is more effective, yes we all know it is good news... but what you may not know is that due to all of the above it is capable of higher resolutions over 1080p, way higher. It can handle more information. I also know that is going into every PS3 after March. Does this mean the PS3 will be better... yes and no. It will function the same just be less prone to breaking and a lot cooler. It will also be lighter. It will not have better graphics. How do I know this... I had a long talk with one of my best friend's dad who makes the Cell at IBM. This is not BS. Do not fret current PS3 owners (me included) there is a way to get the new cell on your PS3, well sort of... If we all write a letter to Sony when your PS3 "breaks down" (insert sarcasm) or breaks down (and it will) simply say that you want the new Cell installed and are willing to pay a fee for this replacement. Why would Sony do this... because every PS3 they don't have to fix saves them money so why not install a better chip that is more durable and avoids future returns. (Note: the first 5.5 lines of this post are fact the rest is my opinion). You can take this as good news or bad news.

I was considering believing everything you said, untill you said that the new processor will make the PS3 lighter. That it will not do. Though there is truth in alot of what you say, I have to reserve judgement untill more is divulged by sony. Sorry.
Use of the New 65nm Cell has already began ...
The new Cell is cool and therfore its likly that SONY reduced the heatsinks around the CPU ( dosnt need em so big ) ...
Other than that PS3 will be the same ...

could it be included in the european launch? I hope so.

This is good news for gamers in that Sony is one step closer to being able to lower the PS3's MSRP.TimstuffYou will have to wait for 2009.
[QUOTE="Timstuff"]This is good news for gamers in that Sony is one step closer to being able to lower the PS3's MSRP.nanomecha4You will have to wait for 2009. I highly doubt Sony will try their luck at $500 for too much longer. I wouldn't be surprised if they slashed the price by $50 this fall, or even by $100 for Christmas '08.
