Well I'm sure the store you buy it from will have some form of return policy if the console doesn't work properly so don't be too worried about getting it used.

New. This generation is a horrible one to buy a used console. The savings are minimal at best with a massive increase in potential problems.

Right now, the prices for used old version slim PS3 and brand new version slim PS3 isn't that big of a difference. Around $50? I just got PS3 recently and I made sure that it was the latest version that is more energy efficient with the brand new chip. Less energy and less heat should mean less chance of breaking down. Less fan noise as well. I didn't want to buy an older slim model that didn't come with any warranty. Warranty is very important just in case.

I say regardless if it's new/used get a Slim, and you'll be just fine.

I'd buy new then you still have some sort of warrenty on it, plus if you buy used you have no way of knowing how well the previous owner treated it. So spend the extra few bucks and buy new.

I got a used PS3 slim 120gb for only $200 on craigslist and have no problems. If you want to buy it used, don't buy from Gamestop,

I would definately buy new but i would look for a deal on a new phat PS3. That way you get the best of both worlds. You get it cheap and a warranty. I still see them occasionally in some retail stores.

I bought a used one from Amazon once and it worked fine. If you're interested in saving money then there wouldn't be any problem with getting a used one. I would just go ahead and get a new one though, it's worth it.
