SplitFish has announced that they will be giving hands-on time with their two new PS3 exclusive controllers, the Dual SFX Evolution and the Dual SFX Frag Pro, at E3. The controllers are due to be released this fall.

Co-founder and head of creative development for SplitFish AG, Jason Johnson, said,

"We want to change the way people think about playing on game consoles. This FREVOLUTION X split-controller series was born from our customer and pro gamer wish list of control surfaces and designed around the natural macro/micro mechanics employed by your mind when playing action games. The result is an evolved, feature packed, customizable dual-controller setup that brings out the best in individual gaming ****."

The new controllers will be wireless and they will be fully customizable so that players can utilize the controllers to their fullest ability. These intuitive controllers are designed specifically for flight, sports and driving titles. Both the Dual SFX Frag Pro and the Dual SFX Evolution will be usable with all PS3 games, PS2 games played on the PS3, and upgradeable firmware.

I'd rather have a remade dualshock with good FPS triggers and the left joystick and dpad swapped (similar to 360 controller).

Same here! That's the worst statement I've ever read. 360 d-pad = epic fail. Anyway, that controller in the pic looks pretty awkward. I'm gonna pass on that. I like my DS3. I see no need for a downgrade.:P

they resemble the built in remotes on high end gaming chairs.

it says they are made for flight, racing, and sports titles. the only one I could see it being useful for is flight since it will feel like you have your hands on the control stick of a fighter jet. As for racing, nothing beats the feel of a steering wheel.

as for all other games, nothing beats the duel shock controlers. the duel shock 2 was voted best gaming controler, and the duelshock 3 is the same except with next gen rumble and six axis. the only complaints i've heard about the ds3 was about the triggers and the fact that the handles are shorter making your fingers feel smooshed together.

I personally don't see any reason for new triggers as most shooting games use R1 to fire instead of the trigger( R2 ).

If sony was to make the ds3 a little bigger ( why exactly make the ds3 handles smaller than the ones on ds2? ) and add motion control that is simular to that of the Wii mote, then we would be living in the presence of a god among game controlers.

as for the controlers in the pic, I see no use for them as I don't play flight sims

Everybody saying its fake seriously need to think before they speak. Splitfish has been making these types of awful controllers for quite some time now, I'd be SURPRISED if they didn't come up with some new awkward and poorly manufactured controllers!

I'd personaly rather just have Sony fix the pathetic triggers on the stock ps3 controller instead of continuing to faff about with it.

Actually, according to many reviews from people that actually have it, they do seem to work well, but it does take some getting used to, especially if you'd been accustomed to stuff from other platforms and never touched a PlayStation before. Their FragFX seemed to work well for those that have been long-time PC gamers and wanting to play ps3 FPS's with some semblance of the precision they're used to. Not the most elegant solution, but it works for a niche market, thus why they can stay in business. But my question with this package is... who's it marketed/targeted for?

I guess I could see getting used to it eventually, but even being a long time PC gamer myself, I thought it hindered my performance in first person shooters. They aren't built well. This specific controller... supposedly is for flight, racing, and sports, but I don't actually see anything about the design that would make it useful for those particular genres...

So you have one in each hand? Hmmmn, could be interesting, I don't know if I'd like to use it with things like racing games. Or shooters. Or any game for that matter now I think about it. Unless it has some amazing new features, I don't think I'd be that interested really.

Wait, I just thought of something! Twin pistols! Boom, boom! Yeah, that would be awesome.

I'd beg to differ. On the basis of the L2 and R2 triggers alone, I'm still hoping that some third party could finally make a fully proper ps3 controller that doesn't horrifically suck. Even the best efforts are marred by the fact that I'd need a separate USB dongle for each and every one I choose to buy, and wouldn't be able to remotely start the ps3.

Well, if its the triggers that really bother you go to GameStop, look on the counter by the register, and grab you a pack of those trigger extensions fro 5 bucks. Those things are effen phenominal, dude. I absolutely can not play without them anymore. I reccommend them to everyone.

Are you sure it was gamestop? I'd been to four different outlets of theirs here, and NONE of them have them. When asked about it, they all refused to even carry or order them for me.

I think the best thing to do is wait until you can test them out. Id doubt they'd release a product with no USP.

Some company released a PS2 controller you could split in half several years ago. This was of course made for the REALLY lazy-ass gamers who couldn't even hold their arms in front of them. This thing looks similar, but I did not read the article. I guess I should, but how would this help for flight games and such?

Looks kind of like the most interesting flop ever.
