they are not going to, you can buy any laptop hard drive and put it in, unlike the 360. the other reason they made the 360elite was for hdmi which sony already has.
 The 360 Elite has been created to compete feature wise with PS3 even more ...    Why would SONY a higher priced PS3 when they need to lower the price ?
they'll probably release a ps3 with abigger harddrive just so that the drive seems bigger in the public eye, the casual probably isn't familar with the fact that you can replace it quite easily
the ps3 is fine theres no new ps3 coming you can swap the hard drive out with a laptop Hardrive for like 100$ for like 180gb and the xbox elite please lmfao they released that cause there scared they knew they were getting left in the dust and they charge 200$ for a 120gb hardrive please
Casuals don't know you can replace the HDD with cheap laptop ones. Later this year they should release a premium with 160GB HDD for $600 and a basic version with a 30GB HDD with plug-in optional Wifi for $400. Also they need to release PS3 specific packaged HDD upgrades in stores for idiots who don't know you can upgrade.... a good way to bring in some extra money too.

Yes casuals would know i don't know about what came with the U.S model but the euro model came with instructions on how to change the HDD drive.
The 360's 120gb hdd for $180 is a joke, I found a 500GB HDD for the PS3 for $200. The PS3 already has all it needs "It's future proof".

The biggest 2.5'' sata drive is 200gb which is what you need for the ps3 if you want to use it internally. Â
However, anyone who knows anything about computers will start asking questions when they see the easy to remove side of the ps3 that has in huge letters HDD on it. And with those questions, comes reading the manual, and when you read the manual you clearly see that its simple to change the HDD.Â
