I see tha the new 40GB PS3 model does not include any backwards compatibility. But does this also mean that you will be unable to download the PS1/PS2 emulator from the playstation store? Or is this model completely locked out of running any backwards compatitible titles?

As far as I know, there is no emulator to download at the store...but the 40 gb does not play PS2 games it will play PS1 games though.

The downloads are all PS1 titles, there a no PS2 titles to be downloaded.

So I would say that you would be able to download the PS1 titles, and more than likely any titles on the PSN store.

All PS3s (including 40gb) will be able to play CD based Psone games AND the emulator download games. PSone games are played through 100% software emulation unlike the PS2 games. You should have no problems
