"According to a reader tip, Target stores are receiving a brand new PS3 SKU. The DPCI item number for the new product is 207-23-0009 and it will be available on March 29, a few days after the end of Game Developer's Conference.

The new SKU, confirmed by our tipster's photo, bundles the now-standard 80 GB console and two Greatest Hits games: MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of Man. Those that have managed to keep track of the various SKUs will find this package awfully similar to a bundle launched in Europe in 2007. Heck, all it does is add Resistance to the now-defunct MotorStorm bundle.

Unfortunately, our tipster says this new bundle doesn't come with a price drop. The SKU will retail for $399, the same price as the current low-end PS3. Yes, the addition of two free games makes it a better value, but this bundle can't replace the "price drop" analysts have been predicting (and publishers have been begging for). Either this is a Target-specific bundle, or this will be one of the most unexciting PS3 announcements to date."

in my opinion this is the first step to the price drop, they will first make this bundle to make the $400 SKU more apealing than any cheaper SKU $300 thoughtby many, like in the present we see the $499 bundle with uncharted because they loose money on the cheaper versions, they make more apealing the more expensive ones

In my opinion you kids should stop complaining for the price of the PS3, many of you use the excuse of i don't have one cause is $399.99 and i want a price drop if you try to make a PC as powerful as the PS3 you'll be investing like 800.00 dollars to play less games without Blue Ray and not counting a controller, the price for the system is alright, just because the 360 is $300.00 it doesn't mean Sony need to do the same, the 360 have been more time in the market, have less features doesn't have Blue Ray and you need to pay a lot to play online, I'm amaze at how many kids keep complaining of the price of a PS3 but they keep waisting money on iphones and ipods. you should save money, buy one and start having fun before they announce a successor to the PS3.

in my opinion there should be 3 SKUS,

core$300 for a 20-40 gb model with no wifi, maybe a slim version (those are cheaper to produce)

$400 for a 80gb seen here with 2 games in bundle

$475 special colored ps3 with 200gb hdd and 2 low sales AAA game like Valkyria chroniclesand Resistance 2 (with a downloadable game like wipeout hd)

chill out dude lol, READ man im not trying to piss anybody up, i am saying for the 100th time , if u are a person (which i think ) and you choose to buy a ps3 at $300 you should make up that by buying several games new so the economy (and that applies to all consoles) keeps flowing and you can keep on getting good games on your new console.
