Well, the title says it all.
Here's my experience - one that wasn't as awesome as i thought it would be.
Opened the case and the dreaded blue screw popped right out with ease. Now to the 4 screws on the casing... nope, 1 came out without too much trouble, the other three caused me to run out for about an hour to hunt for an appropriate philips head that wouldn't strip the screws.
On to Best Buy - nope, their kit wasn't any better than what I had. I discovered they do not sell replacement screws like the ones found on the casing - they are the same as those found in many pc's HD casing. 0.o ...now that Comp USA has disappeared from my area, can't go there.
I went to Lowes and found a precision philips set, ah ha! To make sure things would go well I bought a stripped screw remover.
Came back and tried the precision set, well the precision set might have been precise but it wasn't indestructable. I broke 3 of the dang heads. Can you believe the luck?! Well... my girlfriend has a pair of cuticle clippers (resemble plyers) well... i didn't have any on me at the time and after being out an hour they looked rather inviting. I went at the 2 remaining screws with a pair of cuticle clippers 0.o ...
Well, Murphy's Law has an office down from mine - but he wasn't in today! Yes, these inconspicuous cuticle clippers did the trick. Both came off - but not after 2 of the screws had been stripped.
The WD 250gig Scorpio drive is now in and I am restoring the data.
You think they could have tightened those screws any more? I doubt it.
