So am writing this topic after I just read in Playstation's facebook page that Sony will be releasing a new wireless headset for the PS4. It does look quite cheap to me yet its priced at $130 and I don't know whether to be disappointed or not as I personally ordered the Pulse Elite headset yesterday (for $98) *sigh*.Sony will also be releasing an update tomorrow that should enable the Pulse Elite to work on PS4 (good news for everyone already having one)

So what do you think guys about this headset? is it worth the extra 30 dollars?

@aliwuncler:

None of those headsets are worth the money.

There are far better options out there.

I would like to get Sony Elite Pulse for 120$

Is the newly announced headset better than the Pulse?

Also is there a better option for around $100?

@iardas: Im with you. I think though, with the new ones coming out that the old ones should lower in price. I also want to see the reception that the new ones get before deciding.

Not sure about other options

@aliwuncler: I would stick with the Pulse Elite that you ordered. I have one myself and I love using it on both my PS3 and PS4. I personally don't like the design of the new PS4 headset, not to say that it's not good or anything, but aesthetically I like the Pulse Elite much better. In the end its up to you but I am really enjoying the Pulse Elite.

imho the only major difference between the pulse and the new 2.0 headset is that the latter is foldable and may be aimed at the folks with a vita on the go, however it is just acts like an ordinary stereo headset that way...

i would have preferred it if we could get rid of the usb dongle... :)

@jukev2424:

I wouldn't recommend a headset at all unless wireless is a must. If that's the case, look no further them the Skullcandy PLYR 1's.

If you care about audio more then wireless though, you want an Astro mixamp, a PC mic like the Zalman ZM-Mic1 and monitoring headphones. Preferably open design if you play a lot of online shooters. Lower end headphones to use which are great would be the Samson SR850's or Superlux HD668b's. More expensive ones would be the Sony MDR MA900's. Sennheiser HD598's are really nice as well but only if you perfer competitive shooters without bass getting in the way of footstep and gunshot whoring. The Sonys are more of an all rounder with a competitive edge while the 598's are more about competition then they are about an immersive single player experience.
