Sony is currently making a new PSP and it still has no right thumbstick! Sony has had FOUR FREAKING YEARS to put another thumbstick on the PSP and it hasn't been done yet! FOUR YEARS! Why hasn't this been done yet? That was like the number one complaint it's had, and it's long load times.

WHY!?

Okay first SONY HAS NOT CONFIRMED THIS. Purely rumors on the new PSP. While it might coem out it's not confirmed till E3. 2nd while the nub stick might nto be that good you get use to it. I rather they imporve on the stick they have over having 2 of them. It would be nice to have 2 but I don't think it's necessary.

Everyone is freaking out about things like no UMD drive and no second analog stick, when the entire notion of a new PSP is still just a rumour. Relax folks, or you won't have the energy to freak out if it does happen later on. :P

But playing FPS or Third person shooterson the psp is weird. The X, O, Triangle, Square buttons could be used for different and more useful things like jumping, action buttons, melee, etc. having another stick would tighten the controls for better gameplay.

It's just annoying that Sony has come out with three different versions of the PSP and none of them have had a right thumbstick (original, Slim and lite, 3000). And now there's a rumor about a new one with a bunch of new gadgets on it and it supposedly(spelling?) will not have a right thumbstick.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think a second thumb stick is necessary, or even wanted. The current one isn't as responsive as it could be, especially for FPS games. If I want and FPS, I'll play on a console. Those games that are designed for the PSP work just great with only one thumbstick, or none at all.

+ 1 For the second stick...

Even though it's still a rumor, I do hope that Sony isn't stupid enough to ignore all the complaints about the missing second nub, especially for the FPS games. Even if you don't like to play FPS on PSP you can't deny that on the FPS games there already is and will be, a second stick would greatly improve the gameplay.

I mean, why would anyone not want a second nub? It's just an opening door to many control improvement and possibilities...

Think about it. There's a few reasons. One of which is already posted in this thread. If having dual analog stubs was as easy as just tacking it on there, Sony would have put it on the first model. Next, you might also want to look for a legitimate article stating that Sony will be releasing a new PSP. At this point, their big announcements are most likely gonna be the rest of the PSP's unannounced games as it has been said that over half of the PSP's upcoming titles have yet to be announced.

I dont know why everyone is up for another analogy stick. For me one is fine. I love playing games like resistance, SF, Coded arms.

Everyone can complain about it, but it wont happen. They have sold millions with just the one, so deal with the fact!!

Did any of you guys stop to think that maybe the touch screen will take the place of the second analog stick? Kinda like on the DS where you use the touch screen to aim for FPS games?

Finally someone else that agrees that touch screens aren't something everything needs, and that they kinda suck for FPS's(among other things... despite their functionality and usefulness).

But really a touch screen PSP just sounds so gimmicky to me, and i'm sick of gimmicks (i used to love nintendo, now i just think they're boring :( ).

Wouldn't adding another thumbstick split the user base? 50 million people already have a psp and the PSP Go! isn't the "Next PSP." It's just an upgraded current PSP. -Well, based on the rumors at least.-

Man I hope those rumours are false it's bad enough I might have to buy a DSI because they might start releasing "DS!" only games, but buying another PSP just to have another analog to play games for it is even worse. I hope they don't put a touch screen on the PSP, if I wanted to play something like that I'll play a DS, I don't need a second analog stick; just need improvements on the one I got and I pray to God they don't take UMD's, or more precise, physical copies of games out. I don't want to go digital, I like having copies of games that I can actually 'see'. For the most part the I feel the design of the PSP is great as it is. Upgrading the system for cutting load times, improving graphic capabilities even by a bit or an improved game format are all welcome additions, though, but the overall design is fine with me. But that's my viewpoint anyway.

When you get used to the controls, the stylus is just as accurate and in some cases more accurate than the keyboard and mouse. Though it is a very accurate aiming system for FPS' the only way for Sony to use a touch screen for FPS' is to mimic the DS, since it won't really work any other way.

Have you played Golden Eye for the DS? The most akward controls ever. And for Metroid I used the control Scheme that let me use the four buttons to look. I hated using the stylus to aim then have my fingers somwhere else to do something on the Big Ds and kinda hated it on the Lite. If the PSP becomes like a DS then SOny will get beat hard. Seeing as how nintendo has all thoese casual gamers and Moms and stuff on thier side. Whats good about the PSP is that it is it's own thing. Using buttons and doesn't have a Gimmick like a touch screen. As for the 2d anolog I really couldn't care much. Nice to have another one but I am perfectly fine with the one we have now.

No, I haven't played Goldeneye. I've played COD WAW and Moon though, both of which were praised for smooth, responsive controls. Once you get used to the controls, other schemes(dual analog, dual right/left, etc.) feel inferior. You're basing your opinion on agame using an early version of the engine before it was refined(First person platforming and stylus controls don't match up very well, ergo why there were other schemes available).

Anyways, I'm not saying the PSP should have stylus controls, just that they wouldn't work without copying the DS. I'm fine with one analog too as long as Devs can make at least a half-way decent control scheme to go with them.

I liked COD Modern Warfare for the DS. Didn't try moom. Wait....were discussing/arguing about the same views....lol. Whatever. I just don't want a touch screen. Period and you are correct it will only work if they copy the DS. (I like the ds's other games but only liked 2 fps on it....). Guess we could just end this.....

The absence of a second stick is disappointing for sure, but if it's just a repackaging of the PSP1, does it matter? I'll admit that the second stick should be there at LEAST for PS1 games. I think it's totally coming true. I think Sony will keep both PSPs in production. Depending on price, I'll get the digital download PSP.

I only play RPGs on the PSP so I only use the one thumbstick anyway, but I can see how throwing another one in will open up gaming possibilities greatly. I wouldn't mind the exrta stick and I think the SD replacement for the UMD is a plus. Although they shouldn't release the new PSP right after the just released the PSP-3000, it would only cut the consumer base in half, as someone above has said.

Dividing a user base to give consumers the features they asked for... Why does that sound so familiar?

But playing FPS or Third person shooterson the psp is weird. The X, O, Triangle, Square buttons could be used for different and more useful things like jumping, action buttons, melee, etc. having another stick would tighten the controls for better gameplay.

WILL_423

You do have a point there,if someone was new with playing FPS on the PSP then when they are trying to aim they might already be dead afterwards and even with auto-aim,theres no longer a challenge

Does anyone know why there wasn't a second thumbstick to begin with? I mean, what was Sony thinking?

And back on topic, yeah I'm not so sure I'll be picking up the new PSP Go. Count me in as one of them who wants a second nub as well..

Yeah, it's hard to play first person shooter without right thumbstick, i hope SONY will add that when it released.
