I dont know for sure but hopefully not, I think alot of people would be pretty upset if they required us to make new accounts and couldnt transfer trophies.

I wont any PS3 games once the PS4 comes out, but I have been playing it for the past 7 years and it would be horrible to not have any of this history attached to account on the PS4. On top of that Sony stated that PS4 will be able to play PS3 games through Gaikai, for those who want to play those.[QUOTE="xGamePlayerx19"]

You won't be able to play PS3 discs, but there the possiblity that PS3 games could be streamed to the PS4.they said they're working on a solution, either Gaikai playing from the clud or emulation ; not sure if they'll succeed or if it costs too much they could give up

I'm talking about the trophies you already have though, not about getting new ones, for example, ps4 comes and you sign in but it dosent keep all your previous trophies youve earned throughout the years, nor your level either. If you dont care about that stuff then I see how it dosent effect you but alot of people do.[QUOTE="BigBangTheory_"]

Why would trophies transfer when the games aren't even compatible? What's the argument there? So people who bought a PS3 can feel superior to those who didn't? I never cared for trophies and achievements and this is why. They just don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Just enjoy the gamesistuffedsunnyTrophies earned on the PS Vita accumulate with your trophies earned on PS3 games, so I don't see why they wouldn't continue this. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with "superiority" to most people, many simply like to collect trophies and I'm sure there's a good number of people who would like to see them, along with PSN accounts, carry over to the PS4.
I'd imagine it's going to allow us to use our current SEN account on the PS4 and allow us to view already synced trophies along with trophy level and amount of trophies we've unlocked. Â Then you just play PS4 games to build up your trophy level from there. Â Also given the fact that you can play PS3 games through Gaikai streaming. Â I would think also that streamed games would also have trophies.
I hope that we can at least sync our trophies with the new account if we have to make a new one.jcopp72Even though I don't think we'll have to change our account(because that would be a pretty **** thing to do of Sony, for various reasons.). I don't think syncing current trophies from one account to another would be even possible.. As the trophies are bound to the account you first earned them and synced them to.
Perhaps not to you who has only got 4 platinum trophies. But there are people out there that have really put the effort into their trophy levels. It would be pretty gut wrenching to have all that determination just taken away in a blink of an eye for many people.Â

My guess would be that you'll keep the same account. With Sony going to this "Sony Entertainment Network" account to replace the PlayStation Network account, they're aiming for a unified experience across all their hardware. It wouldn't make any sense for them to make you set up a new account every time you purchased a new device from them. You'd have one account for your PS3, another for the PS4, if you bought a Sony smart TV and wanted to rent a movie from SEN you'd have to set up a third account, and a fourth for your Sony Blu ray player. That would be ridiculous.
Eh, I wouldn't mind much, but I see the obvious issue for those who have a decent sized PSN library. I'd like to see them offer some way to access all other Sony content (music, tv, movies) with one single account.
It wouldn't matter to me personally but those folks who invested a large amount of time and dedication to numerous platinum trophies would definitely be angry and frustrated.
I don't see a reason why we couldn't use the current PS3 account, PS Vita syncs trophies with the PS3 account for example.
In case that they decide to go with brand new SEN accounts (which I don't believe will happen) at least they should honor the current PS3 account trophies with some kind of statistic under the new PS4 SEN account to show the progress many gamers made over the PS3 years in trophy achievements.Â
