New to God of War

I've never played any God of War games; I've beaten most of the PS3 games so in this interim between now and the big releases, I was wondering if it's worth it to go back and buy God of War. Should I start with the 1st one for sure for storyline purposes or just play one or the other? I checked prices, and God of War is greatest hits now so it's only $20 - should I buy it?FFF4N4T1C

Go now and buy yourself GOW1&2 ! Trust me you'll do yourself a favour playing these 2 magnificant games. GOW franchise is really amazing, its epic, brutal and totally bad-ass. The game is not for the weak hurted though. Story-wise its really interesting and intrigiuing and you'll never see a character as angry as Kratos. GOW is definitely a story driven game and you wont properly understand GOW3 (coming out in 09) unless you have played the previous 2 games which I'm sure are cheaper to buy now. Saying that you will still thoroughly enjoy the gameplay as any GOW game is guaranteed to be fun and addictive, the combat is superb and intuitive. GOW2 is better then GOW in every area but to undersatand the story you need to get the 1st GOW which is also a thoroughly enjoyable game.

GOW3 will ultimately give the answer on why there are no Greek myths :o

I can't think of a better way to spend $20, Shadow of the Collossus is another greatest hit you should try.

I'll bet anything if you get and beat the 1'st one, you will rush out to buy part 2 first chance you get.

for sure... ive both 1st and 2nd gows and they are awesome. hey but listen (i know im repeating the others) you must get the 1st one before... they are awesome you are going to love them... hope you still find the first one...

You have no idea what you missed...I would definetly say go back and play both of em, but honestly, you won't be able to fully appreciate the games after playing most PS3 titles already...GOW1 & 2 were HUGE when they were released on the PS2....tryfe_lyn

Yeah back when it came out I pretty much ONLY played RPGs so I missed out. But I don't want to make the same mistake in the PS3 gen, which is why I want to catch up.

There are points where you have to hit the buttons in the correct timing, and times when you have to push them rapidly, sounds like that part is the latter. You will get used to it very quickly though, it is a major part of the game.

I still own GOW 1&2 becuz they r amazing.:D
