So, I'm fairly new to PSN. I signed up for the PS+ membership when I bought the PS4 on launch day. I understand the gist of it and am enjoying what it has to offer as of now for PS4, albeit what little content there is.

I have never owned a PS3, but I know the the PS+ membership would also work for that system. My question is, if I were to get a PS3 now, would I be able to download every game that was ever free through the plus membership? Or do they only offer games for a limited time and you're stuck with what's current?

I'm trying to see if it's even worth me buying a PS3 at this point. I have an Xbox 360 and a ton of games for that, but haven't played it since November 15th. I know there are a ton of exclusives that I never got to play and I miss old favorites like Ratchet and Clank.

So, what do you think, is it worth it to get a PS3 now?

As far as I know, games are offered for a limited time. I think the games in the "Instant Game Collection" stick around for 12 months, so you'd be able to download every game that was free since last January. The link below should help you to see what is currently available through PS+. I'd say take a look and make your own decision on if those games are worth it to you.

Yes, a PS3 is definitely worth buying. Especially if you plan on keeping PS+. No, you will not be able to download every game that was ever free, just the ones that are on the instant game collection right now. But once you reserve them, you keep them as long as your PS+ subscription lasts.

Go to the Sony Entertainment website, login with your PSN account, and you can reserve the PS3 games on your account. They will show up in your downloads list when you get your PS3.

@RossRichard:

I do plan on keeping it now that I have the PS4. I was looking at the Last of Us bundle on Amazon for $250. Think that might be the way to go and I'll get to play what seems to be an awesome game.

Wise choice. I think you will find there are a TON of great games you missed out on for under $20. It will tie you over until great games start coming out for the PS4.

Ahh...start your own thread, bro. Your post has nothing to do with my topic.

every month a few games get released free for the duration of your membership and other ones get taken off that list,

so you wont be able to get those earlier games that are no longer available, however, once u download them, they are in your transaction history, so in the future if u decide to delete them off the harddrive and they get taken off the free games list, u still are able to re download them for free.

the idea is the longer u have your membership the more your game collection grows,

You cannot get the backlog of games on Plus, but the games that are up there now are pretty attractive. $50 will net you about about 8 to 10 game right now. You will be able to play DMC, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Uncharted 3, Saints Row 3, Little Big Planet Karting, Binary Domain, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Dyad, and XCOM. You can also get a lot of Vita games right now too.

I forgot about the Vita. That might be a possibility in lieu of the PS3. At least i can take that on the go and share cross-platform with the PS4. Decisions, decisions...
