Ok... I am a PC Geek.. and I know very little about PSP, but I know I want to get one to use as my new portable Media Player for trips etc (gaming is good too). First trip is going to be about 20+ hours worth of flying. I plan to sleep part of that, but sure would like to be able to watch my own movies, or listen to music while I drift off.

SO... here are the questions:

What PSP Bundle/Version should I pick-up or is the Best Deal Right now (Walmart.com seems to have decent pricing)?

What accessories should I look for to max out my multimedia experience (4 gig Memory Stick Pro Duo)?

What is the average battery life- should I pick up 1 or 2 extra?

What do you rip your video files with?

Is there one case that kick-ass for traveling with?

Anything else I should know/ask about??

Thanks-- CavX

I have a 2 gig fake stick and i could fit a season of father ted on it along with the second season of full metal panic plus some futurama and south park using psp video 9 :)

id look into emulating stuff on the psp if i were you though theres some class stuff out there (mem stick is filled with it instead of the videos above) :)

If i were you, I would wait for the PSP Slim and just get a core pack i say but unless u wanna be gay u can wait like a month and pay another $30 on the white PSP Slim but to me it doesnt matter the colour so just buy the black PSP Slim for $169.99

What accessories should I look for to max out my multimedia experience (4 gig Memory Stick Pro Duo)?

Since the core comes with a charger and a battery pack u might just want one other ormaybe2battery packs since one brand new battery pack can be used for around 10 hours at the start, and get a 4 gig memory card thats the one i got its costs like $80 and u can fill it up with a sht load of music.( i got a 30 hour playlist with just 2 gig out of my 4 and then the other 2 are movies). Maybe get some speakers to give your psp music that extra push or when u are watching movies.

What is the average battery life- should I pick up 1 or 2 extra?

Average battery life of a new one is around 10 hours

What do you rip your video files with?

Kingdia

Is there one case that kick-ass for traveling with?

hmmm a case is a case get whichever one is durable

Anything else I should know/ask about??

Have fun buying all this stuff :D

P.S msg me and i can give u a website where u can download a few PSP movies frm

you can get the new slim psp which comes ut next month on the tenth, i would go with the ice sliver psp bundle which has the psp game daxter, the umd of family guy and a 1 gb memory stick

What accessories should I look for to max out my multimedia experience (4 gig Memory Stick Pro Duo)?

if you want a good cheap 4 gb stick go here

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Memory-MSX-M4GS-Retail-Package/dp/B000GBO9IM/ref=pd_bbs_1/105-8126965-2387608?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1188526235&sr=8-1

sry i dont know how to link

What is the average battery life- should I pick up 1 or 2 extra?

im pretty sure the new psp has a battery life of 5-6 hour of gamein but if you buy the old psp batterys you get dubble the battery life. so if you want to play the whole flight get 1 extra so you can play the whole time

What do you rip your video files with?

download dvdshrink and pspvideo9. search for them on google

dvdshrink is so you can get you dvd on you computer and pspvideo9 is so that they convert you video into a format you psp can read

Is there one case that kick-ass for traveling with?

Anything else I should know/ask about??

Thanks-- CavX

yoiwishiwasrich would u actaully waste a sht load of extra money just because the PSP was a diff colour so what if it stands out all u need is for it to work just get a PSP black save yourself a lot of money and buy daxter seperatly cause iunno how much its in America, but here in Canada its fairly cheap, plus i never a full battery life only lasted 5-6 hours, mine lasted like 9-10 hours

the daxter pack is a good deal even without the color. psp is $170 daxter is $20 1gb memory stick is $20 for a sandisk more for the sony so thats $210 so you save $10 and you get a free family guy umd. and i was guessing on battery life of the new psp. is the 9-10 for like vidoe and music or gameing?

You should get the Slim Version With Daxter as everyone says

For Accesories you should get a good memory stick

Yes you should buy an extra battery if you need it so much

PSP Video9 is the best for the videos

There is a case inside but its not to much big of a deal

Get Some Great Games

cheers! :)

I like the star wars bundle that comes out on october 9th. A white psp with a portrait of Darth Vader on the batter cover plus The brand new Star wars battlefront: Renegade squadron. Totally worth the $200.

I am going for a PSP too, is this PSP slim the same as the PSP2? I was wondering which games to get, I am into JRPG's. I am already getting Jeane D'Arc, any other suggestions? And does this PSP Video9 support the .avi-format? Thanks in advance!
