New XMB - when?

The new update of PS3 is going to contain amongs others, a new Xross Media Bar and messaging while playing. The XMB will be possible to view while playing and messaging also will be possible with keyboard on screen or a real one while playing.

Anyway, i'm wondering if anybody knows when the update will be available for download, because i cant find the info about it anywhere and it's killing me not knowing.

That was just restating what was already said on the Official Playstation Blog weeks ago. As the article states, no new information has been release since. = Don't be a complete idiot and wait it out like the rest of us.

Summer 2008. There are rumors that in-game XMB, Accomplishments, and the Video Store are coming in firmware upate 2.4. In-game XMB has been confirmed for 2.4 which has been confirmed for the summer. The rest is all rumors.theycallmeryan

2.4 also has ingame communication. WOO NOW I CAN TALK WITH FRIENDS ON ROCK BAND O_O

That would be awesome if true.

When people talk about ingame chat or messaging does that mean other than normal ingame chat? Maybe like using the chat option from the xmb? It would be cool to get a couple of friends to join a chat session then each lauch their game and you would only be talking to your buds, sorta like pc gaming and using team speak. Would be nice to be able to do this.GreyFoXX4

I have been hearing rumblings that it will be out before MGS4, with some saying Tommorw.

Other's runblings say it will also have In-Game Music and 2D Trophy system like XBL achevments that over 70% of released games will support.

it is not a new xmb but a updated version of it where you can play games while entering you're xmb
