While waiting to pull the trigger on a 60GB I read this about the 40 "40GB is better because it uses newer chips, runs cooler and quieter, and has a wider Bluetooth range". Is that true? I still wanted the backward comp. of the 60. Also who has the best price on a 60GB ? Great site!TNX

I don't know where you can even buy a 60gb PS3 considering they're discontinued and have been pretty much sold out for a while now. Perhaps on eBay?

I do believe I read somewhere that it has a cooler running, more energy efficient chip in it. But, I don't think anything is better about the blu-ray player, that sounds like BS to me. The thing is, the 40 GB may be cooler running, but the 60 GB was never a system with overheating problems. I have a 60 GB PS3 and it runs nice and cool. Plus, I'd rather have the backwards compatibility for PS2 games, and more importantly the extra 2 USB slots for Rock Band. If you can find a 60 GB PS3, I'd say go buy it.

Okay, JUST because you're asking about the details, I won't say anything evil.

But this site is not great. My friends can't even see my profile!

Not sure about the 40's, but as for a good price on a 60gb, well you could try a local gamestop. I know, Gamestop=the devil, but stick with me. Last time I was there, they were selling their 60's (new)for the same price as the 80gb, and with a free game of your choice. What restrictions applied, if any, that applied to the free game are outside of my knowledge as it really didn't pertain to me and I didn't feel like asking. But it seemed like a decent enough deal.

TNX for all! Now that I waited to get these answers I lost it!!, out of stock. Not eBay, but a well known site. I'll wait and see if they get any more or just get an 80GB. I hesitated because of that 40GB info that I posted but I also don't have a TV yet that can really benefit from the Bluray. There was a great deal that some were getting from BestBuy, they had a 25% off any toy coupon and the PS3 was coming up under a search in toys. If it wasen't for the long lines I was going to try to get one. The coupon is expired now. Thanks for the replys!

Its true just search the dang store. I never mentioned it. But If I would of if I knew the Bots thought it was such a big deal. To me it wont mean anything in the race. Ive know that for awhile now.

I forget where its at, but its in the store somehwere. Just look deep enough and youll find it.

In fact I think ill put it in my sig latter, just to shut that whole thing up. lol

The 40 gig will never support PS2 games while the rest of the PS3 SKU's will. As far as it running cooler I haven't had a problem with my 60 gig and it's running 24/7.

Your thinking about the PS2 game data download for games that needed it for on-line game play and it's not for BC support on the 40 gig PS3.
