For the people who don't know what that means PlayStation 3 will pretty soon be able to have a 1TB (Tara Bit) Hard Drive. The blog I made yesterday is calledNews: 1TB (Tara Bit) 2.5in (Internal) Hard Drives will explain everything and the links since I didn't want to redo them. So your laptops will be able to hold a 1TB Hard Drive and you'll never have to worry about memory again.

So would anyone consider upgrading their PlayStation 3 hard drive to something like that and be cheaper compared to the other consoles?

For all those people talking about the byte / bit here's a conversion chart.

If Sony brings a similar version to Play TV that works with my television provider and I can use my PS3 as a DVR, you're damn right I would like to have a TB on there to store countless hours of programming.

Just more proof, that the PS4 will have at least 2TB of HDD. Or at least 1TB if they decide to use SSD's. (games will most likely all be Digitally distributed)

I've been deleting a lot of stuff on my PS3 because I'm running out of hard drive space.

It really depends what you do with your PS3.

What are you talking about, we always have to worry about memory and what is 640GB? I was under the impression the jump was 500GB to 750GB and then 1TB. I remember a few years ago when any game over 3GB was considered massive, now you have games pushing 10GB. By the time we start streaming video at 7680*4320 1TB will be enough for what, all of 10 minutes of the movie. Include lossless audio and you need even more space.

If they bring roll out the media service and more and more games become downloadable then ya i could easily see myself buying one. Also with that much hard drive space i could just load up all of my media to the ps3 rather than having to play it over the network

1 TB 2.5" drives by 2015 will be a little late for the PS3. For now, the 60GB drive is plenty. Once they enable the PlayStation DVR, that's a different story.

True but It's a prediction and there will be bigger hard drives as the years go by. Yet if you say it's late for the PlayStation 3 but still having PlayStation 2 games being released and people buying them well after next stuff was released.

A terabyte is too much for anything right now. I've used like maybe 100GB on my comp.

The only reason I could imagine getting a TB is if we got the PVR abilties and I used that enough.

i think a 250 is already a size that'll last you a long time to use. Remember this isn't a computer, or a "real" computer by the standards,so the extent shouldn't be that far.

I'd go as far as 200 GB. Any more than that will only be useful for the DVR capability. Other than that, you're not going to have anything to fill up more than 200 GB with.

why wait that long for overpriced 2.5 inch HDD.. when u could now buy a 1000GB external 3.5 for $300.... and plug it into the ps3 via USB... considering just from downloading trailers and a few demos my 60 gig ps3 is running low on room...

So you correct that but forget to mention the obvious one? It is Terabyte, Tara just reminds me of Tara Reid, not a bad thing at all, though not applicable here...

My Xbox still displays 50000+ blocks ever since I got it 5 years ago since I dont really stick anything on it besides game saves and a few songs. This could all change within this generation though, if we have digitally distributed content including games, movies and TV content then expect the drive to be filled quickly, depending on the price of such content ofcourse.

WOOHOO!!! this rocks, i've got 300+ gigs of MP4 video on my computer, i can't wait till these come out and i can start turning my PS3 into a database of all my favorite shows. ripping DVD's and putting them on there is now a reality for me, i've already put over 120 gigs of stuff onto my PS3 (of course most of that is off and on because i only got a 60gig.) but this willl rock.

too bad they won't be out for so long :(

Although some ppl might say they need more space, i doubt they would fill up one terabyte unless they are hardcore porn fanatics or something.

I just today ordered a new 250gb hard drive because I easily filled up the 60gb with videos, DLed games, and my own music.

While I could've been more efficient and deleted some of my media, heck I own a PS3 -price isn't an issue...so I went and bought the new hard drive.

You've obviously never tried to store recorded HD television shows. They eat up space like crazy.

lol but all the other hard drives will be a lot more cheaper and plus a 500GB hard drive should be at a good price.
