everyone says NFS shift is still a bit arcadey in controls and still not really a true sim type of game. it really looks like its got the cockpit view and the sense of speed though going for it and thats all i really care about at this point. dirt 2 and this are totaly different games though its really weird to compare the two if you ask me, grid more understandable.

Yeah I think Shift will be great. Hopefully I'll like it more than DiRT 2. That game was a disappointment. :( Anyway, I'm picking Shift up tomorrow after work. I hope it's great!

Renting it first, but if I like it I'll buy it. I'd like to wait for GT5 but could be waiting quite a while for it.

You can't compare nfs to Dirt 2. Totally different simulators.

I bought it today and tweaked my Logitech DFGT to my liking (still need to fix the pedals though) and i have to agree that this game is Intensity In-Ten-Cities. It will gladly hold me off until GT5s eventual release later this year.

The sound and cockpit view are just great, online doesnt have to many modes but it has ran veerry smooth... especially on the first day.

I was going to wait until GT5 for my racing fix, but I'm really in the mood for a game like this and from what I've seen, it'll definitely fill the void until GT5 comes out. Picking it up tomorrow.

I've been playing it since I got home earlier today. It is instense.

You seriously need a wheel, though. I'm using the G25 and WOOOWWWWWWWWIIEEEE.

I'm sorry, but this post makes me think you've never driven a real car. I personally didn't like shift at all, although I didn't use a wheel so maybe it's better than a controller but I don't think it's as realistic as you make it out to be.

Shift is great. On professional physics mode it's as realistic as you will get on consoles. Excellent physics and handling model. It also has impressive g force modeling and tire modeling. You can feel every little bump on uneven pavement. Also does an excellent job of catching the intensity of racing. Higher tiered, more powerful cars feel more untamed and wild.

The cockpit view is excellent, but personally I prefer the windshield. Especially if you have a wheel, it makes no sense to me to have a wheel in front of you and then another on the screen if it just limits your view.

I have to agree that Shift is much less of a sim than the reviews make it out to be. In fact, I would compare it more to Ridge Racer 7 than Gran Turismo any day. The game really seems to be designed for you to drift a lot (like Ridge Racer). Not only do the cars seem too loose in the back, but the game gives you a lot of performance points for drifts. The cornering doesnt seem right either. Even high performance cars like the Viper seem to have trouble sticking corners when they shouldnt. Again, I think this is because the game wants you to drift. I liked Ridge Racer 7, so Its not like Im dissing the game here. I think RR7 has better presentation, but the actual racing and car selection in better in Shift. Im still disappointed in the game because it was hyped as more sim that it seems to really be.

Its a huge step up for the NFS fanchise, maybe the best NFS game to date. I'm a huge fan of GRiD and eventually i'll get Dirt 2. Just finished playing a couple races on Shift, but looking to take it to the next level once i buy the Logitech GT Racing wheel
