Excited?? not really. NGP will be the talk of the show. Last year it was all about Kinect, Move & 3DS..but this year, what else is there to talk about? We dont have a name, date or price. Plus Qriocity feature is gonna get a major upgrade for Sony devices. Who else can through a wilder curveball?
It will and should be the proverbial main course for Sony. No question.
I realize that Sony have said somethings about it in GDC and at Tokyo - not to mention the fact the PS3 might have a surprise here or there - however, there will still be much more Sony will have to reveal about the new Portable playstation:
-Name
-Games
-Other features: Networking, software, etc
-The final hardware specs. (hopfuly that 1GB of RAM rumor is true)
-Price and launch details
-Commercials
That's the really general parts. It will be stretched over around half an hour, I believe.
I can't wait for what Sony has planned for us in this year's E3! We are gonna finally find out the price and release date of the NGP. I just hope it's affordable:?
[QUOTE="Poncho_Hachacha"]
[QUOTE="Coolyfett"]
um an actual name of the device??
Coolyfett
lol that would be pretty important.
Yea lets hope they dont call it the Dual Analog Portable. Naming systems after features or gimmick is idiotic! Who does that?
The entire adult film industry. :|
nothing cause i know the line up will be the same as psp and the price of the best version which is one i d want not no cripple unit, will be at least 100 dollars more expensive then the 3ds , and i already have the later and am impressed im collecting and i want to build my 3ds collection first,
Uhh, Cooly... I don't think that's the most unbiased way to word it either. :P It's all that actually matters HERE. :D[QUOTE="Coolyfett"]Lets stay focused on the NGP people. Its all that actually matters.

3D?It is not totally a myth. The muscles in the eyes need to focus like that to perceive the 3d effect in the first place. Both eyes need to capture the light and the mind perceives the object(s). If someone over stresses the muscles in their eyes by playing 3D effect for long periods ad over sometime, it could have some effect.
That state of going from un-cross eyed of the focus on the 3DS display to viewing the real world around is due to the lactic acid build up in the muscles of the eye. It happens to some people depending on the individual. Some people could play for 15 mins with 3D full blast and barely feel anything in their eyes. Other people could play for 15 minuets on full blast have eye pain and even some sense of vertigo.
The NGP's OLED does not have that problem because the display will actively move peoples focus around and there is no 3D to overstress the eye muscles or the brains depth perception. The rich contrast on the OLED should hypothetically mimick the real world and natural settings in photorealistic games. The NGP's high resolution display could also mean more PPI which would lead to easy reading of smaller fonts and such.
It's peoples choice though. Sony could probably talk all E3 about the NGP's OLED display alone, it's just new cool tech. Much newer than 3D, actually since 3D has been in movies since the 60's. Sony barely began on OLED around the late 90's.
OLED is ORGANIC Light Emitting Diodes though. The positives are that OLED screens take much less to power because they don't need backlights, they emit light all by themselves, which will help the NGPs battery, and that it can have more vibrant colours. It expresses "pure colours", and also has the highest response times of any screen type (that I know of). The negatives are that it has much lower life expectancies at 14 000 hours, compared to LCD/LED life expectancies at 25 000 to 40 000 hours before they die, and because it is organic, it has burn in. So when you're playing FPSs for extended periods of time, expect that aiming dot in the middle to show up for a bit.

So if you really want your NGP to last, don't leave the screen on overnight or anything like that. I sure as hell won't. The screen doesn't just suddenly die in 14 000 hours. It slowly gets duller until one day it dies out. Think of it like a long-lasting lightbulb. It won't be as bright as it was in its last hour compared to when you first twisted it into the lightbulb socket.riariases1st of all, how do you beat the last boss in Daxter? anyway, what do you think 14,000 translates to? I mean that be odd My NGP will automacticly die in 2 years or something.

Alright, last time I played Daxter was probably 2008 (I traded my copy in) but as I remember, you just have to jump across those platforms and hit him a bunch. Thats the second half of the fight, the first half I don't remember. And 14 000 is actually a lot. 14 000 / 24 = 583.3 days or 1.5 years but thats with it on 24/7. For most people, it will probably last 5-8 years (assumption) because people aren't gonna be playing 24/7. Plus, you never know. Sony probably thought ahead and created a solution. But at the same time, in 5-8 years the next Sony handheld will be out.

The life expectantcy on OLED's depends on the color (either Red, green or, blue with blue usually being the lowest). The half-life on these OLED's has constantly improved as time goes on. Just recently chlorine was found to be a good chemical additive to increase the effeciency of OLED displays.

There where also a few more longer lasting blue OLED lights. What you wrote about the OLED brightnes is slightly true. In order to have a maximum luminescence without back light, the pixel cells would need to be packed quite tightly (known as pixels per inch or "PPI") because any gaps would capture light waves in the dark crevices of a display panel grid and that reduces intensity. The NGP appears to have quite a bit of PPI packed in it's 5 inch display which is good news.
I had barely begun to learn about OLED's but, it is pretty interesting. OLED's do not burn in. They die off because the organic compounds no longer re-act to normal electrical conductivity. Also, AMOLED's like the ones in the NGP are actually much better compared to LCD's in not creating a ghosting effect. The refresh rate is really good because presumably they do not use TN displays and that residue of electrical impulses amoung pixels is much smoother on OLED's.
I want there to be more information, on the OS of the system. I want too see the user interface and how it will be diffrent. I also want to see the what fetures the NGP will have, becasue I want to see will this replace my ipod as well as my "media out let".
Also, I want to see the Games, I want to see the different types of games, and the game play that will come out from this event.
I want to see some gameplay from third party developers and hopefully some new game announcements. NGP's final name, price, release date would be great.

Yeah, the NGP has 4x the resolution of the PSP at only 1" larger (?) so PPI is no problem. And yes, OLEDs do have burn in. The display is based on organic chemicals that emit light when electrical currents pass through. Just google seearch "OLED burn in". And the Blue in the RGB field of OLEDs do have lower life-spans. I already knew that part. But even if the Blue died out, the screen can still function, but you're only gonna get RG balances.[QUOTE="wakefulness"]

"The display is based on organic chemicals that emit light when electrical currents pass through".The way the carbon based chemicals die off is not like how I associate the phospher in plasma cells that recognize an image and act like a sponge to things like logo's.
The whole die off of blue pixels and others still working is kind of confusing, isn't it? Most people have experienced or seen image burn-in's with plasma's and pixel sticking with LCD's. In OLED's, it would appear as if the aperture ratio of light that the diodes emit make up for a loss in things like blue pixels. Which is good in displays with a lot of PPI because that brightness would still be pretty good. Not sure about the uniformity of diode death in certain displays because the temputare's initialized by both IC's and natural heat sources like the sun which would affect the chemical compounds.
Another thing I was reading about was the possiblity of scientists adding layers in an OLED display which act like solar panels. Not only would they protect the diodes from natural heat sources but, they would also act like their own energy source. Which is really cool considering they hardly use up any energy as is.
First and foremost... the price. It is vital to know it before even thinking of making a purchase.
After that i'm really curious about it's features, since i'm not expecting miracles for the launching titles, having some sweet features might make me really interested in the product.
And ofc the games, it's the most important piece of the puzzle, but you can't know what the future will hold in the upcoming years... still i hope they give us a large ammounts of possible titles comming to the console, even if they are years appart so we can know what we are getting into :).
Bring on the details!
I would like to see a price and a few new games (GTA for example, seeing that Rockstar is on the developers listof the NGP)
[QUOTE="darkPSPfan"]i want them to tell me the price and i want them to confirm a port of upcoming Mortal KombatCoolyfett
