nhl 08 is $15 at walmart. get that. $60 for a sport game is a waste. 08 is the same.

Get NHL 08, better deal. Plus i think it's better than 09 anyway.

I liked the gameplay in NHL 08 better, the passing and one-timing is pretty poor in 09. The hits are bigger however, but they seem unusually arcadey for a game that prides itself in being a simulation and realistic. The graphics though in 09 were certainly improved, that is the one thing I think it has over it's predecessor, and if you like the new Be A Pro mode, you'll have to pick up 09. Me, I'm waiting to see NHL 2010. I really hope they finally put Roberto Luongo on in a Canucks uniform. I would buy that game just for that, hahaha

Clearly you haven't played both.

NHL 09 is worth the extra. 08 runs like crap and doesn't even have half of the modes and features that 09 does. Best hockey game I've played in years.

I traded in my 08 for $2 (ouch, i know) and bought 09 and i am very happy with it. there have been some nice subtle changes and the online teamplay is a plus for those who actually know how to play there position. Im a goalie in reallife but i play a defenceman in NHL 09.

NHL 08 is not even half the game NHL 09 is. Both are great. But NHL 09 is far superior.

However do not pay 60 bucks for NHL 09. Go to your local gamestop/ebgames/microplay or whatever store is around that sells used games and pick up a copy for 40 bucks. It is certainly worth double NHL 08, no question.
