I love it, yet I play lots of RPGs, well I play lots of games regardless of the genre. Definitely my favorite JRPG since Final Fantasy VII.
I'm too on the fence about this game. I never get into JRPG but this game looks gorgeous and got a lot of praise, so I'm contemplating about getting this game.
You should try out the demo at the psn store, which should help you determine whether or not you'll like it. And don't worry about having never played a jrpg, especially when the consensus is that Ni No Kuni is one of the easier ones.
Sort of off topic here a bit, but do you guys think this will be one of those games that's really popular, but then slips into oblivion because of low supply? Â The then later generates insane amounts of value equating to gallons of drool from game collectors around the world?!?!? (Gasps for breath)
Actually I'd say don't base it on the demo, the demo totally isn't giving the core experience of what the game actually is like, the demo is a huge dissapointment while the actual game is indeed an outstanding jewel. You should try out the demo at the psn store, which should help you determine whether or not you'll like it. Uhm...it already has gotten enough support to be remade for the PS3, as far as I know it originally was a Nintendo 3DS Game that was supposed to be for Japan Only back in 2011. And as outstanding as it is I think we all can rest well assured that it will be a game gamers will still talk about like FF VII & Co.Sort of off topic here a bit, but do you guys think this will be one of those games that's really popular, but then slips into oblivion because of low supply? The game is also on the psn store so no way in hell you wont be able to find it.
I really like it, probably gonna work on it some more today. Has that sort of Ghibli touch to it. It sort of reminds me of a mish-mash of different RPGs - there's a little bit of Dragon Quest there, there's a little bit of Pokemon, there's a little bit of Tales, but it's pretty different from those games even.
There's lots of side-quests and other optional things that you can do, and they might detract from the story experience a bit, but they give you more time to enjoy the battle system.
Battles have their tricky moments, but the main thing is to keep one eye on your HP when you play NNK. Your characters share their HP with your monsters, so simply switching out won't give you fresh health.
I don't normally play jrpg but Ni No Kuni is an amazing game. I am having lots and lots of fun with it.Â
The demo is a poor representation of what to expect.
Some pros include, great anime movie style graphics, nice soundtrack, immersive system wiith training Familiars (Pokemon) and understanding what Familiars works best for what battle, more bang for your buck
Some cons include a slow moving story, like a glacier drifting in the ocean slow, 85% of Ni No Kuni is text based dialog, tons of hand holding, and repetitive combat
Your best bet would be to youtube some walkthroughs and watch maybe 1 or 2 parts. There is so much content, even watching 10 minutes of a walkthrough doesn't spoil anything major and you can see exactly what you will be playing before purchase.
