I must first say I have been gaming "harcore" since 1997, and before that I played the crap out of my NES & SNES I just didnt take it seriously until I got my PS1. Now I consider myself very good at shooters, 1stp and 3rdp, very good at fighting games, and the rest of the genres I play adventure/platform, RPG, and racing I never am really presented with a serious challenge.

I just got NGS yesterday as I was surprised that after being ported from the XBOX that it still got such high reviews. Anyway, I heard that it was a great game with a high difficulty. It definately has a high difficulty and I will decide later if it is great or not. After dying 3 times on Chapter 2, I was presented with the option to lower the difficulty but I refused. I assume that I am playing on the normal difficulty right now. Do any of you that have completed this game have any tips on how to improve my skills with this game?I am now fighting that fat robot looking guy at the end of Chapter 3 and have had my ass handed to me so many times that I cursed NGS, made a sandwich, and had to watch some T.V. for awhile to ease my pain. haha.

So after rambling for a minute there, I will let you all tell me your opinions on this game and hopefully you can give me tips on being a Greater Ninja.

Also, is this the toughest challenge on the PS3? I hear Demons Souls is quite difficult but I cannot think of much else that could be this tough.

Not in my opinion. In fact, it's difficulty was toned down from the Xbox version quite alot. So far, I would say that Silent Hill: Homecoming has been the hardest this gen. The enemies are extremely unbalanced, and the doge mechanic is rarely effective unless you have spidey sense, so you run out of health items quickly. If you don't manage to do eveything just right, you'll be starting the game over before you can beat the final areas.

well it is initially hard but once you master the camera repositioning with your combos the game becomes very easy

The cheap way to beat him is as soon as he tries to charge the rifle on his arm jump and hit triangle, keep doing that before he can charge it up, and he won't even be able to attack you. The fast way to do it is time his attacks, keep far enough away so he can't grab you, charge up between his attacks by holding triangle and unleash a huge combo (you can take his health more than halfway down in less than 15 seconds doing that but is a bit more tricky to time without getting hit).

I've played the demo, but I used to have on the Xbox couple of years ago it was a tough game. But Ghosts N Goblins is twice as hard as Ninja Gaiden overall. But I have heard that Demon Souls is a hard game too.

Pretty easy once you learn the moves and constantly move around. The last boss fight was easy as hell.

Yeah I mentioned Demons Souls in my post. Anyway, the camera in NGSdoes seem kind of crummy for a game with such a high score. I just hope that I can get all the way through this game without busting an expensive DS3 controller. HAHA. Well thanks for the replies guys, and to the person who said Silent Hill HC is tough that is ironic as it was my next planned purchase after Dead Space. Oh well bring on the frustration.

here is my advice, learn to evade and block a lot. and also try to buy a lot of elixir. learn the combos too. especially the air ones because other enemies cant gget to you. i beat the game on hard and it was hard. as for very hard. tried it and got slaughtered.

Personally, I love NGS. Yeah the difficulty is a bit extreme, but I like when games actually require you to be good at the game in order to beat it. A little tip would be to almost always be blocking. The second you hear the 'shatter' of your guard being broken, roll away. Once you see an opening try to get a quick combo in. I try to keep my combos in the air, that way the guys on the ground can't hit me with their swords.

For Dynamo (big fat boss that's giving you trouble), all you really need to do is stay close to him. If you're close he won't be able to use his annoying laser gun. He will do like a turn around smash when you're close. Simply block it and roll behind him and do the square, square, square combo with the dragon sword. He will probably do the same attack, and you'll be able to repeat that action. If he starts using his gun, constantly jump and roll to the left or right and gradually make your way near him. He should die fairly easily.

Btw, have fun with chapter 17 :)

If you call crappy controls and an anti-player camera "hard", then yeah. It's hard.

Take those things away and you have a pretty average, generic action game.

The only hard thing about this game was literally "fighting" the controls and the camera.

Another helpful tool is learning the proper time to counter. I can't quite do it yet but being able to counter at will would be pretttttty effective.

Demon's Souls >>> Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Once you get to level 100 + it becomes insane. Ninja Gaiden was a walk through the park compared to this.

Was going to import it but I figure I may as well pick up the NA copy when it is released here. Certainly look forward to playing it. Hopefully it's as difficult as everyone hypes it to be

The only thing easier is that you can heal without having to press start. Other than that, its basically the same game, only NGS has an improved camera (but it's still bad). You can't really deny the fact that it's a hard game either. In no way can this game be considered "a walk in the park" when compared to another game, as someone above me stated.
