Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a very hard game. It takes a while to get the timing of your block and attacks down. So get ready for that if you do get it.
Heavenly Sword is a great game BUT it's really short. It should only take you about 6-7 hours to beat. So here lies the conundrum. Do you get the hard game, and try to master it. Or do you get the game that has all of the flash but is really short.
It's all going to come down to what you want. Look at the back of the games before you buy them, take a look at everything and see what YOU would like the most. Keep us posted, I'm interested to see what you get.
Heavenly Sword would be my choice. I just found it so much better. I tried to play NG but i couldnt other than sweet moves there was nothing that made me wanna play. Heavenly sword on the other hand i have a hard time stoping once i start.

What he said.
As much as I like Ninja Gaiden (and I do!) I would say to get Heavenly Sword. All reports have said that it is an amazing game, and even without reasons lends itself well to multiple playthroughs.
Also, we really should stop buying the same version of Ninja Gaiden over and over and over before we are forced to play Ninja Gaiden Sigma Black Heavy Omega: Remix.
NGS... way better action game, HS was same ol' same ol' and boring... I was actually gonna trade Sigma for HS... so glad I rented firstDTM4545How is NGS not the same ol' same ol'?
get NG. normal difficulty was a breeze for me, but thats only cause i beat it on xbox
im now playing through it on very hard and its proving quite a challenge and im on chapter 7
on the other hand, HS was great and all but it lacks anough content to warrant a purchase, i mean i bought sigma is july and i still play a lot
NG
NGS is hard but it is easier than the orginal on XBox. I think NGS is alot better but you may give up on it. I really dont think HS is worth the purchase just rent it for like 5 days and you will beat it no doubt.wooooode
You can beat NGS in 5 days aswell, most games can be beaten in 5 days.

No, they can't! Unless that's all you do all day.
Maybe it's just me, But I never played a game for the third time except for finishing the hard difficulty mode.
If the first time is a good experience, then my money is well spent. Finishing the game for the first time with no spoilers should be the best and only experience IMHO.
I think both are great in their own right. Granted, Heaveny Sword is better looking (it looks amazing!) and has a much better and captivating story, but it is short, and once you beat it there's not a whole lot left to do other than Hell Mode, which really isn't too difficult.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is really tough, in my opinion. But there's more game content and you can download addtional modes off the PSN Store. It's also great looking, and the animations are a smoother than HS. But both are great games, and both are satisfying.
This question seems to come up every 2 days. lol
Anyway, I have both, I've finished both, and I love both. If money is tight and you want something that will keep you busy, NGS is a tremendous value, provided that you can hang with it. Most people who are totally new to this series will require a MINIMUM of 17 hours to finish the game, and probably a lot longer on average, unless you give in to Ninja Dog mode. Plus you get mission mode with varying difficulties for each mission. I've put about 30 hours into it and I'm still playing it on the harder difficulties. It's extrememly fun and satisfying if you understand how to use the combat system.
If it isn't so much about value and you want a great gaming experience and a show piece for the PS3, get HS.
If you're big on action games, you can't really go wrong with either.
if you want the best of both worlds get Devil May Cry 4 when that comes out, its gonna blow both of these games out of the water!
But on topic, i'd go with NGS even though HS has better characters and story (very important to me) its game play sucks @$$, gameplay is just as important if not more important then the story in games for me and HSs gmaeplay is terrible compared to NGS. Thats why i say DMC as it has great gameplay on par with NG and a great story with great over the top presentation and fight scences.
Ninja Gaiden is NOT that hard, the game has some good challenges and tough bosses but that's what makes it so fun, anyway NG is by far better, the controls and combat is amazing and it has pretty good replay value.
Okay, Im getting a ps3 and I need a good action game. Im worried about NGS, because I've heard its really hard. Games that are too hard usually make me get bored and stop playing. Sooo I guess id kinda prefer NGS, but if its too hard im just gonna go w HS any thoughtspeterrobau
Ninja Gaiden Sigma isn't hard unless you play on hard, which you unlock by beating the game once.
Also, the game starts on normal by default, but if you die too much, they ask "do you want to give up the way of the ninja?" which basically means, "do you want to play on easy?" and if you chose "yes" then the difficulty changes.
In addition, Ninja Gaiden, (which I have), is much longer than Heavenly Sword, (which I don't have, but have heard is REALLY short), so Ninja Gaiden is more worth the money.
Last but not least, Ninja Gaiden is fun as hell. There are so many different weapons and combos and ninpo that you will never get bored. Not that Heavenly Sword is at all boring, because I hear its awesome, but Ninja Gaiden will not get boring either, even though it is much longer.
All in all, I would recommend Ninja Gaiden.

You can't beat Ninja Gaiden in just five days, unless you don't have a life. lol
