No matter how great L.A. Noire will be I still have one problem with it.

No matter how great L.A. Noire will be and it will be great, but I will continue to have this one problem. I do not like games that is in the past except for medieval style games like Oblivion, as I have never liked them because they bore me.
I have pre-ordered and paid off this game and I will play it, but I hope being that I am interested in the being a cop and the police story that I atleast finish/complete the game unlike Red Dead Redemption and Mafia 2 which are other great games but I got bored with and could not finish/complete either.

Is this just me or are they others that feel the same or have a similar problem.

I'm sorry... but did you mention in there what game this is? I don't think you did. I assume you're talking about LA Noire...

Nobody can really help you on this one. If you've already paid for the game then all you can really do is play it and see what you think.

I like games based in the past. I didn't really like RDR though, but that had nothing to do with the setting, just the story and long long long horse rides to advance into the game.

So you're going to pay full price for a game you're not very interested in? On top of that, you probably won't even finish it? Yeah...you're doing it wrong.

I don't really care when/where a game is set as long as it's fun to play I'm in.

Im actually more interested in game since it's set in 1947 or whenever.. I like the fact they researched the game and are making it fairly factual of the times so yeah i think i'll enjoy it more than running around an open world talking to man-sized lizards and orcs.

I actually have a similar problem. I didn't much like RDR or the Mafia series, even though most love them.

Considering the scale of the game and how much R* invested though, I feel like I ought to give it a shot.

Well I for one really enjoyed RDR and this style of game is really intriguing to me. I always liked games like LA Noire. The fact that there's a full scaled game like this made my Rockstar on a generous budget means it's a must buy. Plus I'd love to support this type of game so that we could get more like it. Now how about that GTA V, Rockstar? ;)

Seeing as it's time period is one of the reasons I'm so excited about it I don't have any real problem with it.

I don't understand what difference it makes if a game is set in the '40 or the present day. The cars look different? Nobody's listening to hip hop?

I enjoy games like that, set during different time periods. RDR, Assassin's Creed and surely LA Noire are games where the time period is important.

I will buy it and probablly love it no doubt, but my problem is there is no online play. I mean seriously, you follow up GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption with a game you cant play with your friends? I love Rockstar and pretty much everything they have ever done, some of their best work is single-player only games, but in this day and age you NEED online play, even if its just a free roam. GTA IV is probablly my favorite video game of all time BECAUSE of the multiplayer, however after 5 LONG years of playing it religiously, I've simply run out of stuff to do. Red Dead Redemption, although very unique and fun with a great setting, just isn't deep enough. Basically what I am saying is BRING GTA V ASAP! ...oh, and dont go back to New York again, i've had about as much as one person can handle of the Liberty City.

Yeah I wish LA Noire had a GTA like MP component to it that isn't really related to the main story. For example cops and robbers in LA Noire. Yeah it's not what the game is about but it would be definitely a cool addition IMO.

Why do you bother buying old-school games when you know you'll probably never finish them topic creator?

This makes no sense. It's like me buying a highly rated MMO then complaining about the game because I hate MMO's.
