IGN ran an interview w/ the director where he said there will be no Multiplayer featureds in the Ratchet for the ps3. I mean WTF! i loved playing that game splitscreen and online on the ps2 i mean even the psp version has online. I know Not a lot of people played the previous ones online but thats b/c the ps2 wasnt the best system for online i mean with the ps3 online is so much better and after the great job they did w/ resistance i was really anticipated for this game primarily for the online. I mean i should start a petition askking them to put in multiplayer i dont care if the game gets delayed. Too bad i dpnt know how to start an online petiton.

Personally im happy with no multiplayer.

It lets them focus on other area's of the game and since i never planned to play R&CF:ToD online no loss ...

They said early on that they wouldn't focus on online play, so i guess no multiplayer was included in that.

Do you have a link to that interview?

Glad to see they're focusing on making a long single player campaign instead of throwing together some shoddy half-baked story that can be completed in less than ten hours.

I don't mind but I wish that they had Online-Co-Op or leaderboards or something or used one of the mini games to do leaderboards and ranking and stuff, but I'm glad they're going back to their original roots and more platforming and story because it was more fun. I just read the interview and it sounds cool I like that last idea of making Ratchet metting Jak and Hale and Drake that would be sick...

No mutiplayer at all. I mean i am not paying 60 bucks for a platformer with little value other than singleplayer. Here is the link i mean i was so looking forward to this game now i might not get it.

Why are people so obsessed over online nowadays? I love God of War and would've gladly paid an extra $10 for it even though there isn't a shred of online play. If a company can make a good game I don't really give a crap whether or not it's just single player.

what some people dont get is the fact that some games just dont need online play and those games are this one sure it would have been good but oh well at least we know now that there trying to make the single player as good as they can. and the oether game that dosent need  online is devil may cry 4 that would be the most useless online ever in any game ever made

While Up Your Arsenal was a great length and a gret single-player game, out of all the titles I preferred Going Commando. While they didn't skimp on the Up Your Arsenal single player, who knows how much of an effect adding multiplayer had on the story and other elements. Then you have Deadlocked which really showed their focus on multiplayer, even if they were upfront about it, it just wasn't a Ratchet & Clank game. So if the new game leans more towards the Going Commando model, I'm happy about it.

Best part of the interview

IGN: When are you going to give Evan at Naughty Dog a call and pitch the idea that Ratchet should land on Jak's planet so the two icons can team up? It would be awesome!

keep leaving messages for Evan that we should do a Ratchet and Jak MMO where they travel to earth and team up with Hale and Drake, but for some reason he never returns my calls...maybe the part about ottsel mages was too bold after all.

Sure does help, especially since we're paying $60 a game now.

I'm glad. While I feel the like the only guy who actually liked R & C:Deadlocked, it was clearly the worst of the bunch and the obsession with multiplayer is a large reason why.

Some games do not need multiplayer. Would you make Mario multiplayer? R & C is as solid a platformer, IMO, as Mario ever has been.

Of course Rachet & Clank is a good series.

Mario Party 1-7, Mario Kart, Various Mario sports games. All of which are definitely not needed, but Multiplayer/online helps.

I don't really mind. If they focus soley on the single-player it'll turn out more like GC which was IMO the best RC game.

i haven't played a single ps2 game online so i don't understand why so many people are complaining. obviously its like a necessity this gen but we'er talking insomniac games here not EA. They know what they're doing so i have faith in them.

Care to change your tune about the PS3 in general?  You pick on everything..even the Folding project.

To the TC I don't see ANY benefit to multiplayer and I will pick this game up either way :D

Care to change your tune about the PS3 in general?Trek5200

When a game comes out that's worth my spending $60 bucks I'll be more than happy to enjoy my $600 dust collector. It's great at playing PS2 games so far.

You pick on everything..even the Folding project.Trek5200

Pardon me for not sharing this newfound "compassion" for the F@H project. How long has it been available on PC (which most PS3 owners are posting on BTW) that it didn't get any attention, but now that it's on the PS3 STOP THE PRESSES we're FOLDING SOME PROTEINS BABY!!!!

I purchased the shiny speed bump to play video games and I do look forward to MGS4, Little Big Planet, GT 5 even this new Ratchet & Clank, not to watch Blu-Ray movies(or HD-DVD movies), not to fold proteins, not to play PS1 games(nor am I downloading VC, or XBL Arcade Games). I want games to take advantage of my 360s strengths, I want games to take advantage of the Wiis ingenuity(totally dig the controller Nintendo), and I want Sony to pull their collective heads out of their....well....you know and give us gamers some great games to play on the PS3.

I see no problem here at all.

I agree with what many have said before me: Multiplayer is not needed in every game.
And to those who bring up the price all the time: So what, every game above 50 bucks now must include a multiplayer part?

How about judging the price by how much fun the game is. If the game is great fun, is reasonably lengthy and was good enough to perhpas play through a second or even multiple times, what's the problem?

Take Shadow of the Colossus, for example. The game was relatively short, no multiplayer aspect whatsoever, but DAMN, what an amazing game! The experience justifies the price.

I couldn't be happier :) Up your arsenal, and Deadlocked were way to short and the multiplayer was kinda half baked anyway.

The single player should be top notch then, and since R&C games always have skill points and hidden goodies and newer more expensive weapons the replay value will sure go up since they're really focusing on the sigle player game.

No not every game needs multiplayer but this game had legitimately fun multiplayer UP Your Arsenal was iMO the best in the series because after you beat the excellent singleplayer you had the awesome multiplayer to fall back on. I dont doubt that the game is going to be great but at this point the game became a rental. I mean after spending 600 dallars on a (excellent )console every purchase has to be worth it. Thaat iss why i am more likely to but a game with Online (my 2 ps3 games are online.) I mean i will buy games without a multiplayer aspect ( LAIR, HS) but striping out  all multiplayer (even splitscreen) is a step back for the series (I dont count deadlocked as a r and c game beacause it didnt have clank and was more of a spinoff.). But maybe it is not that big  a deal great games like JAk have no multiplay. But i seriously wanted that in this game.
