"We have not added rumble [to PS3], and have no announcements regarding this feature," said Dave Karraker, Sony's director of corporate communications.

The company did acknowledge motion-sensing enhancements for the Sixaxis controller

"From time to time, we make minor enhancements to the controllers for our platforms," he said. "We recently sent out to the development community some new prototypes that have a slightly enhanced sensitivity for the analog sticks and the motion sensing within the Sixaxis controller."

"This is not a new controller, but is part of the normal development and evolution of controllers."

Phil Harrison marginalized rumble when saying, "I think [rumble] was a last generation feature; it's not a next-generation feature."

___________Above was some of the main parts from the article

I think it would be nice to have but I guess that really isn't up to us now is it. I think they will eventually make something with it but probably not any time soon.

I'm not going to believe this right now.

Remember that Sony was denying the so-called "price drop" when info was leaked?

They're denying it again.

Ha, don't worry, there will be a rumble controller. They're just denying it because they don't want to cannibalize on the success of the current SIXAXIS. Well, I don't know if I'd call it success. They just don't want people to not buy another controller just because a rumble one is on the way. That's why they'll deny it until right before it comes out.

Like a month ago the CEO of Sony America said that there were no future plans for a rumble feature in Sony Playstation 3 Controllers.

Yea that has stopped me from getting another controller. Good thing I bought Best Buys protection plan. If they release a new one I can trade my old ones in for the new ones. (if i wanted) I think it will be nice to have both IMO.

Wasn't there a thread about this where someone linked the patent they had for the next controller, that it was to begin selling around september or something?

Not to sure I just stumbled upon this and I thought I would share it. I hope it is not true though. I like both the sixaxis and the rumble

the "no annoucments regarding" line just means the dont have anything to say about it at this point and probably just waiting for the right time to announce it

doesnt necessarily mean theyre not working on it

i don't care ither way.

omg!!!! my contoller is shacking, this is a ****ing mind trip *drools*

give it a break, it's not a necessary function. Tell me PS3 owners, when you're playing are you thinking of rumble that much, be honest.

I don't think it is a necessary function for all games but it sure makes the experience for Fishing games, FPS, Sports Games alot more interactive because it uses another one of your senses and some times it was used to try to scare you in some games with the combination of a good sound track. So sure its not necessary but it sure can be fun.

Rumble is a nice feature. It does feel weird playing without it. It's just nice to feel that little rumble telling you: "DUDE! You're getting flanked by that friggin' Steelhead over there! Do something about it!"

I don't know, but I like the fact that it keeps you alert and it helps you to delve into the game.

Yea that is what I am thinking but. I am not sure how they can make the sixaxis and rumble in the same controller? Maybe different games could use different features from the two controllers or maybe they will make a combo controller but I am not sure how good motion sensing would be when it is rumbling lol.

When sony realy announces the rumble controller (and there is a 80% chance they will) will they wait until all the current controllers are sold before they release the rumble one? Can't they recall most of current controllers and refit them with rumble? It shouldn't be hard, the motion sensor and bluetooth aren't big and the rest of ps3's controller is almost the same as ps2's.

If they annouce something, then people would be like "oh...i'm not going to spend my money on buying a controller now, I might as well wait for when rumble is back" So I guess they want people to continue buying the normal Sixaxis's before they make the announcement. Sony didn't pay Immersion for nothing.

I agree with you. Even though I don't really care if our controllers get rumble or not.

sony will have it sooner or later. for now, its kept under wraps and sony wont let some few leaks be let out to the public. if they were to announce it, they would annoucne it themselves, not let some random internet geeks do it for them

i dont really miss it but WE KNOW ITS COMING, hopefully with that snazzy new touchsense. they are not going to jeopardize sales by making an announcement too soon.

Remember the price cut on the 60gb? Sony kept saying "This is not real" or "There are no plans for a price cut at this time". What happened? About 2 days later they confirmed a price cut. So, "No plans at this time" really means "Yea, we are making one, but we havent announced it yet. Just wait."

exactly. Anybody who folows the video game industry should know that these "official" statements and press releases, hardly ever stand valid or unmodified for any real amount of time. These people are trying to sell you something, therefore they'll try to form your opinion for you and make you think things that maybe aren't true. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.
