this was a stupid move by paramount, they just lost out on an easy 3 million sold units
This topic is locked from further discussion.
this is the only reason why Paramounts idiotic move angers me
other then that i could care less
dstryr13
wasnt transformers a speilberg movie because they say if its made by him then this wont mess with the movie
It was produced by Speilberg and I don't know if that is enough to make it Blu-Ray though. I have a call to the stuidos, I'm awaiting an answer. If I get it before the news is posted I'll let you guys know.
Whats intresting is the fact that the movie "Next" is coming out in Sept and I have that prebooked through my distributor. If this deal just got done, I wonder if this means that title is offically cancelled from releasing on Blu-Ray. I also had prebooked Top Gun on Blu-Ray releasing in Oct.....guess that is out as well.
I hope youre not refering to the recent theater release of Transformers, because it you are then who cares. That movie was absolute garbage. "Oh noes, its teh parents, lets hide behind their house!"ironwarrior2
as much garbage as u want to call it, it did make over 650million world wide so far and its still makign money..

At least Stevie is not that idiotic :D
i now retract my statement for i forgot that Speilberg had a hand in Transformers
it was really a Micheal Mann film but Speilberg had a BIG hand in it too
dstryr13
No!
Not Michael Mann, it was Michael Bay
Michael Mann is actually a good director..

Well Spiderman 3 was garbage as well but it helps to have a 300 million dollar movie exclusive to your cause :)
Transformers being exclusive to HD could be bigger than Spider-man being exclusive to Blu-Ray IMO. Luckly they still have Pirates 3 which gives Blu-Ray more heavy hitters but when you add Shrek 3 in there........Blu-Ray is really lucky to have Rataouille exclusive for them to counter it.
Either way it's not just Paramount you have to contend with, it's Dreamworks as well which is basically another major stuido. There is no way to spin this news other than saying HD just got a lifeline thrown to them from Paramount.

Steve is smart he will yell at paramount and make transformers Blu-Ray at the very least.
paramount i hopethe world boycotts ur movies for one year when Blu-Ray obliterates HD-DVD for eternity
TRANSFORMERS pwnd

overrated. along with 300. dont get me wrong, 300 was good, but not "the best movie ever made" as i hear some people describing it.
and whoever confused michael bay with michael mann deserves to be forced to watch all of michael bays films for 48 hours straight
Im hoping that maybe since he was the producer he may still be able to get it on Blu Ray. I doubt it but if transformers ever does get released on Blu Ray then i hope that they better havea trade in program for the dvd versions or something because that would be BS to double dip back like that. I guess ill probably just get the Special Edition dvd version since i doubt there is going to be a dual player out by then that will be very cheap.
I don't get this. Viacom owns Paramount(supporting hd-dvd). Viacom also owns Blockbuster(supporting blu-ray). What in the hell is going on?

LOL, agreed
Michael Mann is to Michael Bay
as
Michelangelo is to Michael Kowalski, the dude that works down the street at Kinkos who's kinda okay at photoshop.

LOL, too true. Bay makes loud movies, Mann makes good movies.

Just Ratatouille? Don't forget Cars and every other Pixar/Disney film. Also, Shrek 3 was bad. Very bad.
Plus, you can't really count Dreamworks as a seperate studio like that. It's like counting Sony and Columbia as 2 different studios.
Ahhhhhhh man... i was gonna buy Transformer on Blu-Ray.... well that's some money down the drain for Paramount!:DDan_Lero
Thats what I was thinking a minute ago. Acording to surveys and numbers, there are more BD players out (including PS3) out there than HD DVDs. That huge number was a possible buyer of the movie, be it because they liked it, or just to add it to their collection. Now those guys wont have it in BD so they will most likely buy the DVD. The HD DVD will have lower sales and will most likely fail on terms of sales, since BD adopters are not going to buy an HD DVD just for it. All in all, its an extremely risky move by Paramount that by the way things are looking, may very well hurt them

michael bay is only slightly more talented than uwe boll. and only because his spectacle is more... spectacular. also, for what it's worth, speilberg is THE most overrated director in the history of film. his films are sentimental garbage despite their technical competence (though i can't help loving 'jaws').[QUOTE="ironwarrior2"]I hope youre not refering to the recent theater release of Transformers, because it you are then who cares. Ya but HD DVD can counter Rataouille with The Bourn Trilogy. Which is way stronger!

and now BR is countering that with the Die Hard Trilogy :D

shrek 3 is with dreamworks so its hd dvd exclusive also but anyway i dont know why paramount is digging their own grave i mean transformers was a huge hit and i enjoyed the movie a lot and was gonna buy the blu-ray version along with blades of glory so now i guess i have to buy the dvd version instead. they wouldve sold 2million for transformers easily. this is just prolonging the demise of hd dvd.
Hopefully its still Blu-Ray through Speilburg, because right when I saw it, I told myself Im buying it on Blu-Ray.
Run-on sentences FTW.
trav_have
i think its only spielberg directed movies that will be multiformat anything he does other then directing will probably be exclusive to hd dvd
No Transformers on Blu-ray means I won't buy it. I have the HD-DVD player for the 360, but I prefer to buy only Blu-rays. So even though I loved Transformers in the movies I'll have to pass. Thanks for nothing Paramount!!!!
DARKCHOAS
Why did you bother to buy the HD-DVD addon for the 360 if you refuse to buy movies you love on it? What a huge waste of money. It makes no sense.

Movies that Steven S. is involved in are excluded. Meaning that transformers will be available on blu-ray.LOKI-RAonly movies that spielberg directs will be on blu-ray, he was executive producer of transformers so it will be hd-dvd exclusive. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6176936.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;11 "Films that are executive produced by Spielberg can still be HD DVD-exclusive, as Paramount said it is kicking off its platform monogamy with HD DVD releases of Transformers, Shrek the Third, and Blades of Glory."
