Final Fantasy 9. Simple answer. I have played FF since the 1st. Beaten them all. IX was the best. Go ahead and argue but saying VII is the best is wrong.

IMO X is the best one for me.
Silly little misinformed people. Final Fantasy VI is the pinnacle of RPG games and always will be.Velric
Agreed. Reason.
One word... Kefka ...
I just bought FF9 like a month ago and the other day I was playing it, got to the FMV before the 4th disk and it Froze! I tride it again and again but it keeps freezing on eikos face.. I got all the chocographs and just need to be on the 4th disk to fight Ozma..... Man I am rotted. 50 hrs of gameplay for nothing....
P.S.- Xenogears RULES!!!
I have played and beaten 7, 8, 9 and 10 and in my opinion 7 is the best, the story is just to good, although 8 comes pretty close, 9 was great, but it was basically a copy of previous titles
Seven was not the best but was probably the most important, as it brought the RPG genre the mainstream audience. I liked IX alot but some people would probably have gotten offput by the look of zidane. I hated XII and its offhand battle system. And they made Van looks like a ugly little blonde girl cosplaying as Aladin.

I think XII's biggest problem was the way the story progressed. The story itself wasn't bad. The issue was the time between cutscenes. There were times in the game where you spend like 5 hours just traversing the different places without a single cutscene.

yeah. when it comes to FF games, i'm really big on the story aspect part of it. though, i did like how they made XII more like an MMO in that there wasn't the random battles per say.I also played all FFs except 11(MMOs arent for me), and I would have to say 4,6,7, and 10 are my favorites. No offense to anyone as it is all opinion, its just that 8 seemed a little slow/boring and 9 seemed childish. My only gripe with 12 was a major lacking storyline with simple characters.
FF7 was amazing, but overated in comparison to the others. The only thing that almost makes me hate 7 now isnt the game, but the extreme fanboys that made SE turn FF7 into metro-sexual spinoff city. I hope 13 is great, but my focus is shifting towards mistwalkers lineupnowadays. I just hope Lost Odyssey and and Blue Dragon justify my 360 purchase lol.
Final Fantasy 8 > Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 9 was good until the end... all of a sudden some big dood comes out of nowhere and you have to fight him. Then he dies in a couple of swipes. The End. Big let down for me.LaserGunzPewPewFFIX had the easiest final boss of any RPG I've ever played. Especially considering I had Thievery maxed to 9999...
i'm voting for Final Fantasy 2. That's 4 over in japan. Cecil and Kain were great. thinking back on that game just makes me feel old since it was released back in '91 :(tgschmidt
I have to agree, FF2 (FF4 in Japan) had alot of twists and turns withoutsections where you just had to level up for a couple hours. The games since have tended to drag on in the middle.

I remember alot of characters dying in that game; there was the 2 twins that got turned to stone.. then the chinese looking guy dies .. man alot of death in that oneI dont know, The last boss in FFX was this little bug thing called Yu Yevon.. after every attack he heals himself for 9999 HP. so all you have to do is cast reflect on him, after every attack you will be fully cured!
Abicus7
Or just cast zombie on him and then full heal and its over.
I think every FF or even every RPG for that matter should scale the last boss to how powerful you are at the end. If I go around leveling every character up fully, finding all ultimate weapons/items/armor, defeating all extra or hidden bosses I still want the last boss to be a major challenge. I didnt really like FF8, but at least it gets credit for being the last FF with a tough last boss.
