I've had my slim since september or october 09 and every so often there is a cracking noise that comes from it. This usually happens when I've had it on for a bit. I understand it's probably it just cooling down, but should I be worried about this bricking the console in the furture?

I've got the same model PS3 and it never makes any noises like that. I'd be worried, too.

think the guy above me is messing with you or he doesn't really have a clue. the cracking noise you hear is the plastic expanding and contracting from the heat, hence why you hear it after a long gaming session. mine used to do it too but not anymore. its nothing to worry about. this topic has been discusses several times already.

Don't worry mate, it's normal on a slim PS3. When I first got mine the sound freaked me out too. If it's the old model system though, then I'd be worried.

It might be just the game disc spinning.

I've never heard it. It's not that I don't have a clue, I guess I just don't play for as long as you guys do. It's hard to guess how long "a bit" is.

I've had the same model since july. And it does this every once and a while. I don't think its anything you should worry about.

Normal. The lack of horrible ear splitting cracking sounds is one thing I liked better about the fats.

This is a different sound. It's the disc drive sound which is also normal
