that sucks, if it's out of warranty then opening would be fine. Just make sure you don't mess up anything while doing it

it works perfectly but there is a noise like those small kids toys likes tsk tsk tskIf it still works like it should then it may not be worth trying to fix it. My DS3 has been dropped several times and has never had a problem.

Your controller's fine, I'm sure, especially if it works perfectly.
I'm sure it's just a tiny bit of plastic that broke off, or something else unnecessary.
The controllers really arent as scary on the inside as you guys make it out to be :P I currently have a sixaxis that ive taken completely apart and am waiting for some LEDs to mod it. But then again ive been taking controllers apart for years, sooo.... ;) Best of luck to you though. freham2001That's true because I have taken my old Sixaxis apart several times because of a sticking analog stick. But then I have yet found anything that can't be taken apart and repaired as long as a person takes care when doing so.
Yeah thats usually the case. I had that happen with several ps2 controllers back in the day.Your controller's fine, I'm sure, especially if it works perfectly.

Well, if it was a little plastic piece that broke off inside it probably just got stuck somewhere. I give it 10 minutes before it gets knocked loose again. ;)
Well the controllers not quite dead....lol. :Pi feel srry for you, RIP DUAL SHOCK 3 xD
Sorrydos_takii
from what it sounds like its not broken at all and shouldnt break on you unless something like that happens again
No need to open it if it works fine. Like others have been saying, you just have a tiny plastic bit that got knocked loose. If the sound stops happening, then it got stuck in some little nook, and will probably work its way out eventually. Not really too big a deal, but still kinda sucks. :p Careful with that rumble! The same thing has almost happened to me.
