My PS3 just stopped reading discs!!!. It was a post launch 60 gig too!!!! Does anyone know someway to try and fix it before i call sony. The little blue light is on but the xmb doesn't show the disk. And it was just working fine an hour ago....

That exact same thing happened to my friends 80gig PS3. He tried cleaning it out but it didn't work, he sent it in to Sony and they fixed it. I don't think there's much you can do, you will probably have to send it in.

+1. It's done. Disc drive crapped out and needs to be replaced, exact same thing happend to my 80GB system. It recognized there was a disc, blue light, but could/would not read any media whatsoever. Call Sony, send it to them, pay them if out of warranty, and get it back as good as new.

When this happened to me i sent to sony and when i got it back they didnt do sqwat. Then a few days later i was playing a demo and then i hit the ps button (with a disc inside the ps3) and there it was in the game section i was so happy. Maybe you should try that?
