All I read about is people complaining about EBgames employees bashing the PS3, it seem that a few people who work at one where I live are fellow PS3 owners and we have nice discussions about it while I'm there. Maybe Canadians are just more polite.Bartz_Has_Biteyeah maybe and i was one of the people that complained but i was complaining about people at my eb's not everyone elses
my Eb's is awome. there are 4 enployees, each one a console fanboy playing one paticular system with the manager as a manticore! XD

my Gamestop are anti PS3... :(Â
Actually, the manager at the EB Game I go to, knows a lot about games. He is probably one of the nicest guys I have met, and he actually held a PS3 in the backroom for me, and said he was out of stock, even though I don't even live in the city. I'm not gonna say what city or anything, because then he could get in trouble, but because going into the city is such an inconvenience for me (I'm two hours away) he allowed it. He then makes sure I get the best quality games, and reccomends me games, and usually his advice is good, sometimes it's not, he once reccommended me Lost Planet...that bastard. :P Just kidding about that, I just didn't like that game, but I never ever believe most of the stories.

Then there is the other employees there, wow...incompetence. I asked for G.R.A.W. for the X-Box 360, they got me the PS2 version, then I said "No, G.R.A.W. for the X-Box 360." Then I seen the X-Box edition, and that's when I got mad, I just stated "Get me G.R.A.W. for the X-Box 360 this time or I'll go in the backroom and get it myself." Safe to say she finally found it...I hate incompetent workers.

I really hope Sony wins otherwise it will prove the first one out will win cause xbox 360 has less features and you have to pay yearly for faulty hardware. *steps off of soapbox and sighs*
The closeset GameStop is about 5 minutes from my place, and right next to my dry cleaners. I ususally stop by after picking up or dropping off clothes just to hang out and chat with their employees, who are actually pretty knowledgeable about games. It's refreshing. Kind of like the last guy said, they are a good mix of guys and girls who know various systems, including PC games and MMORPGs. What's interesting is that a few of them have gone back and forth over the last launch year. The Manager, who I've known since he was a third-key, barrelled through the summer completely amped about the Wii. He sold his 360 to bulk up some duckets to make the buy. He got lukewarm about it as the launch window grew closer, and shifted camps to the PS3.
The number two guy and I are on each other's friends list on XBox Live. The major point is, they all seem to see the value in each sytem; they'll give you their personal choice or favorite, but they in general do not push one particular product over another...except for the used games of course.Â

Most EB games employee's act like a bunch of smartasses just because they work in EB, they think they know everything about gaming and treat everyone like a clueless unimformed fool
this wouldnt be a problem if they actually knew ****
but not every gamespot is like this, some of them are completely clueless and are not ashamed of showing it
I've found GameCrazy and local reatailer to be alot more reliable

Indeed that is true. I've never had a problem with the EB I goto here in Hamilton and actually, the manager's pretty nice. When I bought my PS3 she said "Boy, somebody loves you eh?" lol
Â
If I ever came across a door knob, I'd tell him to "shut up and ring up the game I'm buying" so I can leave. lolÂ
Well i was at gamestop the other day to get oblivion. When i over heard the employee talking to another man. Well I was reading all the post about how all their employees are biased so I wanted him to say something bad so I could blow up in his face and shut him down horribly. He was saying that he shouldn't get the Ps3 right now because there is really not many great games out now. He continued to say that the Ps3 exclusives have been jumping ship by saying that Devil May Cry 4 and Ace Combat have become multiplat. Then says that Final Fantasy "MAY BE NEXT" (quoted for blind fanboys). Now im just cheesing right now (for those who dont know waht it means it means that i was smiling alot) because Im getting ready to tell him whats what. He then continues to say that he believes that the PS3 has the power to overcome 360..... I was like what then he said that its not a excellent purchase now but he believes its definatly going to be way better in the future. He said some other stuff but I cant remember all (lol i got a bad memory) While buying Oblivion he was offering me the guide book for 20% discount, he said that he has the game and he needs to keep going to the book because of some of the quest. I said I would check the Interenet, he said yeah... well I just dont feel like scrolling through 400 pages to find a certain part. I just said well lets just hope I can play without needing a manual we laughed then he just offered to keep the book at discount for a week and if I need it I can still get the discount.Â
Now that is a model employee if i do say so myself he knew his stuff. Didn't show any real bias. Told me of some of his experience of the game then using it to try and get me to buy something else I may need for the game. Then continue with possibly hooking another sale by saying he will give me a week and if I still need it I can get the book for discount still. Now thats the type of employee a manager is looking to hire for any job.
Yeah, I've been in alot of different game stores over the last twenty-five years (including EB and Gamestop) and there never usually seems to be a shortage of fanboy bias among at least some of the clerks.
This doesn't really bother me though as much as the obnoxious, loud-mouthed, selfproclaimed authorities on all things to do with gaming. You know, the guy who rolls his eyes and mocks the neophyte gamer or the parent shopping for a gift, when they dare to ask the wrong questions or ask for a product they don't like themselves. When I'm in any game store, I usually end up helping these types find the right game for whoever will be playing it or I send them somewhere they can find what they're looking for. I don't get it, you'd think these people would enjoy talking about games with interested customers. I wish I enjoyed my actual job half as much as chatting with some of these folks. Too bad working retail doesn't come close to paying an average persons bills.
The Simpsons really pegged this type of guy years ago when they introduced 'Comic Book Guy, Louis Lane', you know, the proprieter of The Android's Dungeon? Sure it was for a comic shop, but it's the same damn thing. These are the types that all game shops could use less of.
At least not all clerks fit this discription.
usually, the ppl at Gamestop here are too busy hitting on the one girl that works there. They're a bunch of 360 fanboys, but they usually keep to themselves. Game Crazy is just awesome, because they NEVER gave me one bit of crap about my PS3, and well, EB is just terrible here, one outside of my town is good, but the one in my city is pretty bad.
And whenever they give me crap about my PS3, I just simply remind them that they once employed a terrorist who got caught trying to buy grenades from an FBI agent to try and blow them up in the local shopping mall during the weekend rush, and they shut right up. Seriously, this is no joke, it was quite a few months ago, and I'm not out to call EB harborers of terrorism or anything, it just reminds them that outside of their own minds, no one's perfect, and it the real world, the rules apply to everyone, and if you can't take it, then don't dish it out.

Most game store employees are cool people. In my lifetime I have never run into any rampant fanboyism like talked about on these boards. I think people just like to focus on the negative 95% on this board. One of my first jobs out of school was with EB, assitant store manager. All the people I worked with liked one thing...games. It didn't pay much, but getting paid to hang around a bunch of games and gamers is not half bad when I was 22.
