Not happy with 2.41 update

When I first heard of the update bringing the ability to play music in-game I thought it'd be cool. So I asked some people on GS if you actually can play music in the game, they said yes.

I finally got the update today and put some music onto my hardrive. But when I start a game and try to play some music, it won't allow me. Wtf is this, seriously? Most people were hyped for the in-game XMB because "Omg you can play music", to bad that was a lie.

dude, because of it all the new games from now on will probably have trophies and possibly music.

the old ones nothign will change... so what, that doesnt make them bad

well i prefer the music that the developer felt should go with the game.but mostly you should be at least satisfied with the ability to message your friends ingame. thats basically the point of the xmb. music is secondary.kreestoph

2.41 was a patch to make sure that your console is less likely to brick from the problems that arose from 2.40.

It was more of a safety update than anything.

Blame Microsoft...they have a patent on the in-game music feature,that's why sony has to be careful how they implement it .

I had 2.4 and all 2.41 did was taking forever to load my friends list.jtdawg23

it also changed the platinum trophy from pimp crown to a more shiney one

I like the Crown Royal trophy better :cry:

simple workarounds could exist. Startup a game and go to the options menu. If you have independent control over the game's music and sound effects, turn the music all the way down and leave the sound effects at normal volume. go to xmb and start up a playlist and hop back into your game.

Seems like that should work although I've yet to try it.

Doesn't High velocity bowling have in game music? and it was way before update 2.41 ; I think Sony can program somethin to force it in games and not care avout game developers!!!

you cant listen to music while playing cod but you can for super stardust.... i got the update 2.4 and 2.41 did jack **** for me cept waste my time.

the trophies are the 4.00 update if you got that for ssd when 2.4 was released, but you need to calm down its better then nothing.Thought-Pending

I have this feature on my 360...and I only ever used it when playing multiplayer but even then I stopped cause I realized it kept me from hearing vital sounds that enemies were around me. Its such an over hyped feature you have no idea. Its quirky but you'll forget about it after awhile.

Just do this...turn on your stereo...and turn down your TV volume. bam. In-game music.

same! i was fine with 2.40. 2.41 should of been optional

Microsoft HAS a very wordly patent, very UNCLEAR. If Sony would have implemented this feature in the PS3 OS, Microsoft COULD (not saying that they WILL, but they COULD) sue Sony for this.

Sony KNOW that this feature was very important for their users, so thet did the ONLY way they could do without touching that patent: To "leave" the feature in hands of the developers (instead of te OS), they could do "almost the same" without being sued because IS NOT the same as the patent in question.

Now that all developers had the 2.40 DEVELOPMENT tools, they could do it very easy (not as before, because they could but it was very, very, very difficult for them).

Let's wait just some time more becasue all future games (not the ones that are releasing right at the corner) will feature all the thing this development tools have.

Be patient. Sony did the only thing they could do.

It wasn't a lie, it is the developers who need to implement in-game music. If you had done even the smallest amount of research you would know this. You must be one of those people that are impossible to make happy. Anyways, carry on whining like a b!tch.

You're forgetting two important things: this is new firmware, so old games won't have the capabilities. And 2nd: There are a ton of other great features in 2.41 other than music...enjoy them.

The reason I don't care about trophies (yet) is cause it doesn't support any of the games I have, which is kinda dumb. I mean if Sony wants to catch up, they should allow trophies for all the games.
