I'm not impressed with the game's concept. So, I'm not even going to bother playing the demo.

Those were my initial impressions as well. I like games that allow me to mod my whip, but NFS: Carbon is where I satisfy that. Toonish cart games don't appeal to me. The only one I really ever loved is Crash Bandicoot. That game was the issssh.

CTR was indeed awesome. I dunno why though but Chocobo Racing also did a good job even though the tracks were few and the controls were a bit different, I guess I liked it because the materia system worked perfectly. Interestingly MNR has a similar weapon system but we'll see how it goes.

The game basically requires drifting around corners. You absolutely have to drift to do well.

I liked the demo. The track creator was neat and I like how user friendly itis(even though it was just the basics). As far as the actual racing is concerned, its no different than Diddy Kong Racing or any of the recent Mario Kart games (which isn't a bad thing obviously). That being said, although I liked it I was slightly dissappointed.I would not drop 60 bucks on it.

My impression of the demo actually led me to run out and put down the full payment on a preoder today. Needless to say, I was very impressed. The creation tools for your Mod, Kart, and Tracks are all amazing and powerful without being convoluted. The racing aspect is also exactly what I was looking for. This game might be a bit too difficult for some people that don't really know how to get into this sort of thing, but I loved it. The idea that you can actually play defensively instead of getting slaughtered by super items from 8th place is nice. I can definitely see people having issues if they don't know how to drift, but I do, so I loved every minute of it.

I thought the demo was great. I dunno how long you played the demo, but go into it with an open mind. Realize it is not Mario Kart DS (very tight feeling) and is more of a mario kart 64/Didd Kong racing style with the slidey controls. While different, it is fun and requires skill so I am happy. Buying the game no doubt.

I liked the demo because of the fact you can actually create your own mod, kart, and track.

It wasn't for me. I'm not really into the whole creating your own stuff aspect. I liked it on LBP, but this just doesn't seem to interest me. I might rent it, but doubt I'll buy it.

It's because it's like a LBP racing game. I like this game, because the cars are very customizable. I mean, Look at this cool-looking kart I made:

I loved the demo, as you can see from my avatar. The controls are great and once you get used to them, as well as the close up camera, the gameplay feels fresh and unique.

I think the reason a lot of people here didn't like the demo is because the content was rather limited with only a few customization options and only one track. The track they chose didn't really showcase the drifting and all the game's cool features that well.

Yeah, I wanted to drive my kart but I always end up with that yellow muscle :? Also, did anyone notice AI while driving in your own tracks in the demo? I was testing a track I created when all of a sudden, AI karts suddenly appeared! :o

I'm with you , I said something on those lines in another topic and I was adviced to practice more , but I dunno , when I first played Crash Team Racing OR Mario Kart I don't remember having felt the same way.I hope we are rusty cause I really like the concept of moddin' ,like you said , in a kart game seems to be pure win though I'll wait a couple of weeks after the release to see how things will roll.

i think its a mistake judging the game by the very 'limited' demo... MNR is really a great kart game, nice cartoonish visuals, smooth frame rate, great gameplay & creating tracks/drivers/cars is so much fun :)

Hopefully i'll receive the game next monday :)

Completely disagree! I was underwhelmed with the explosions and such in Split Second. MNR is very fun, fast paced, and customizable! We all have our opinions, but I personally did not care for the Split Second demo.

You're not alone. The track building and customization is great, but the racing itself is one notch above terrible. Reminds me a bit of Little Big Planet, where they made a user-content based game of a certain genre and then completely messed up the core mechanics.

Wow, controls were annoying. I've never played such a slippery KART Racing game before. I had to aim towards something other than a powerup to drive into a powerup. The hazard indicator is useless too since you can't tell when its going to hit. I had full boost and when the indicator I would just use all of it for a sheild and I still got hit. Then I would see if I could do it at the right time and I still get hit. I spent a lot of time on the creation stuff and its cool, No matter how bad I am at doing it I'm still happy that I created it from scratch. Its a shame though that the core gameplay is obviously flawed. Maybe next time they'll do better.

Don't hate the game, hate the gamer. The demo is very fun, and appealing if you got the control concept. Don't lose hope on the game, and it's just a demo, it's not going to be 100% the same live. I for one pre-ordered the game at Gamestop, so I have Kratos, and it comes with Sackboy, and a Mystery Pack. I also got an Air Raid code here. So, I'm very excited for this game. About the Split Second demo, I didn't think you can even compare this game and that game. Yes, they are both racing games, but they are not even the same. In Split Second, I felt like I wasn't even racing, it was way to easy, and all I felt like I was doing was blowing everything up. I didn't find it appealing, maybe it's just me, since I love the cartoonish feel of this game. Big fan of Little Big Planet, and the Play. Create. Share. So maybe that's why I love this game already.

The items are hard to get to true, but you can look back to tell when the weapons are going to hit you. I found the hazard indicator easy to use and I keep repelling weapons and you have to time your shield just right. You probably aren't that great at the game haha, and it is YOU that is obviously flawed my friend, but who cares.

I didn't much care for the demo, either; and I was someone who was excited for the game.

Much like LBP, the idea of the game is great but, IMO, the execution was barely decent.

I will now not pick this one up, though I will continue with the demo to see if it changes my mind. Can't say I'm optimistic, though.

I loved the demo. The possibilities are endless with this game. Its amazing how much detail you can put into your mod and Kart. The track editor is great too literally anybody can make a track and i dont have the patience to do that kind of stuff. I will admit the controls took me a few races to get. But its fun as heck once you get it and its a really fast paced game. My only complaint i have with the game is maybe there should of been more range of weapons besides that i love it.

I can't understand what the people that don't like the demo want???? The controls are fine. If you aren't good. You WILL LOSE. Thats what I loved. I put it on expert and had to fight for the win. The drifting is great and very fast. It's a fun game, and shouldn't be compared with easy ol' mario kart.

Aren't demos a means to provide consumers with a way to judge a game? Way should we have to spend money to rent or buy a game to judge it, when there is a free demo available to us? Besides, demos showcase to us the game companies want to sell to us. Demos, in most cases, give you a good opinion on a game. This is especially true in the case of MNR. Sure customizing tracks and karts are fun, but what it really boils down to is the gameplay.

i was also excited about this game until the demo.... the game should be much easier than it is since it's a cart racing game

also whats up with the game starting your cart off BEHIND EVERYBODY ELSES CART? what the hell, the game basically start you off in last place

undecided if i'll get this game

Oh come on, now you're just nitpicking. It's a common thing among racing games, you are supposed to be smarter than the AI. Besides, what fun would it be to start first place? Especially in a Kart racer. It incentivize you to try harder to win. I don't see how that poses any problem TBH.

I don't have an issue with the controls just the gameplay itself the car feels too slippery and because of that I ALWAYS hit corners when i drift

Maybe it's because well....you are not very good? It's okay if you don't like it, but don't diss the game because you couldn't do something due to obvious lack of practice. Geez, I can already conclude that the game isn't very noob friendly :P
