I bought District 9 on blu ray, so i got to play the God of War 3 demo today. GOW3 has some more details in the graphics and lighting, but i cant say that is a good thing because the picture seemed muddy and dark. I actually like the way the older games look better than the new one...they seem cleaner and more colorful. But even if the new game ends up looking better than the demo, i really hope they add some new game play elements because it is a little too much like the old game...nothing is fresh about it. Its like they just just took the easy road followig the exact same formula. With everyone copying the GOW formula to the tee lately, it would be nice if Sony raised the bar again like they did with the original. Were you happy with what the demo showed?

The last game of an established trilogy in a series that has a strong identity is not going to shake things up all that much if at all, it would just piss off the fans, and possibly make the game worse for it. They pretty well know how it will be received critically and at retail if they stay the course, and that's what they have wisely chosen to do. It's possible that in the future they will start a new IP in the same genre that shakes things up, but I'm glad that God of war 3 will be a God of War game, for God of War fans.

God of War 2 barely changed anything in comparison to GoW1, yet it was an even better experience than the first. I think it will be the same case here. As for games copying GoW, if they plan to add new elements to the game they'd better do it discreetly. Not only does the Dante's Inferno demo copy just about EVERY element from GoW, it even has enemies that ride larger beat enemies, a new element introduced in one of the GoW3 demos. Devs are even copying elements of the series that are brand new. Which is another reason why even if Dante's Inferno turns out to be good, I probably won't buy it, just on principle. I'll stick to GoW3.

Like someone said before, GoW3 is just GoW HD. That can be a bad thing or a good thing. I'm looking forward to playing it to see how all of it end.

I don't see why people think that in order to shake things up, you have to change the formula entirely. You can add frosting and sprinkles to a sugar cookie, and make said cookie even better. :? And man am I ever sick of hearing about how Dantes Inferno is ripping off God of War... is there not a laundry list of games that God of War borrows from?

Borrowing is one thing, copy pasting an entire series is another. God of War took a lot of elements from other games and made it into it's own formula that was executed extraordinarily well. Dante's Inferno then copied that formula, to the last detail. Entirely different situation from God of War.
