ntsc games on pal console?

Hi,

I have a friend in Hong Kong at the moment who was going to buy me some games. He said that on the back of some of the games, it says that an ntsc console is required (not sure if these are the "exact" words)! I thought PS3 was region free in regards to games, so I just wanted to confirm this before he bought them. Could it mean that the game requries an ntsc compatible tv set? I have a samsung HD (not True HD) plasma, so I assume it would be alright!!

ntsc ps3 console will play any ps3 game..thats it
it will not play any pal ps2 games..and even then
i had a *** ps3 and it wouldnt play american ntsc games..
just my 2 cents

as long as these games you are being bought are ps3 you have no worries if not they wont work
as all ps3 games are region free all other ps games are region locked

i have PALPS3and i just bought a gta iv from the states (NTSC)

i am wondering if the game would work on my PALPS3

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE answer because i need to know if i should return the game.
