because apparently sound through Optical or HDMI is worse than analog sound[QUOTE="wallpaper42"]Still, 360 got a 10 for sound, PS3 got a 9... Why?vip3r666
and why didnt ps3 graphics get a 10 since theyre better than 360?? we shall never know
Oh, I know.
Sort of makes us respect the GS ratings all the more, no? I mean, no game is going to get a good rating unless it deserves it. All this and I don't plan on buying Elder Scrolls. I'm a WoW player :D.not surprised by the rating at all...its a game that will score well regardless of its platform..now can this put the gamespot bias crap to rest...PLEASEEEE!!!

well the graphics on the 360 version didnt deserve a 10 and because there only a little better on the ps3 i dont see why they would get a 10.http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=3450
here's a web site for a xbox/PS3 comparison, personally, i think the PS3 looks really good.
because apparently sound through Optical or HDMI is worse than analog sound That may or may not be the reason, but there are sound "glitches" that appear on the PS3 version that doesn't appear in the PC/360 version.[QUOTE="wallpaper42"]Still, 360 got a 10 for sound, PS3 got a 9... Why?vip3r666

because the reviewers don't say it's better than the 360, they base it off of what the PS3 can do. That goes for all of you whiners, reviewers base games off of the systems potential NOT anothe systems.[QUOTE="vip3r666"]because apparently sound through Optical or HDMI is worse than analog sound[QUOTE="wallpaper42"]Still, 360 got a 10 for sound, PS3 got a 9... That makes sense.
why exactly would it kill it? i know i know it got a super super high score which im really really proud of, but why did the 360 get a point higher even though the ps3's is way better? lets say i had a 360 and a ps3 and i wanted oblivion, i would check the ratings to see which one i should get, and 360's is higher, should i get it? no the ps3's is better. idk whateveryellowdatsunI second this.
Actually no, this makes things worse because they even said that it looks, runs, and laods better than on the 360, AND that it was a better value with the expansion in it. Why then is it not higher then 9.6 (the 360 score)not surprised by the rating at all...its a game that will score well regardless of its platform..now can this put the gamespot bias crap to rest...PLEASEEEE!!!

You have to remember that the 360 version was rated a year ago. At the time, Oblivion was awesome, when compared to other games (all consoles/pc) at the time.  A year and many games, with that level of graphical detail, have come and gone. I'm a 360 owner, but I am sure that the PS3 version, a year later, is as good or better than the 360 version. Its just that, relative to a years worth of next gen games, the wow factor has faded a bit. Oblivion is an awesome game on all thee platforms. Arguing, especially about bias, over 0.1 points, a year later is just silly.Â
PS3 owners, enjoy the greatness that is Oblivion. Congratulations on your first AAA. As for me, I can't wait to get hold of Shivering Islands. We all (360, PC, PS3) have some great Oblivion fun ahead of us over the next couple of months.

Still, PS3 supports 7.1 surround sound while 360 only supports 5.1 If you would prefer to use component, I believe you can through the PS3 if you would like. It's really that the .1 was taken away over something that made absolutely 0 sense in a condition that almost makes one want to cry foul. I understand the conditions, however, and I will definitely give Gamespot the benefit of the doubt. I swear, though I'd better not see anything in the next month that makes me wonder, or the stars will again align and Gamespot will have this air of mistrust again. You have to remember that the 360 version was rated a year ago. The pop in is far worse in the 360 version and this video shows it. There is one bit of architecture that does not pop in on the Playstation 3 version at all. Superb example of technical differences.http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=3450

The PS3 version is not, "way," better. It actually has less content, so it's inferior in some ways. The graphics are a little better than the stock version of 360 Oblivion (there was a patch just released that improved the loading, framerate, and draw distance), but not enough to warrant an entire point. And are you people seriously that upset over the score? Relax...
The PS3 version also doesn't have the downloadable content of the 360 version does it ? 0They probably felt like the PS3 version couold have been a bit better than it was with the increased power and development time, and they adjusted the ratings accordingly.  Which is fair. I mean, we are talking only a tenth of a point, here.Â
