what ?? u kiddin right??
its a great game, i have had it since march i think and i havent finished it yet, but i dont play that often(besides i was on a 2 month trip with out my ps3) but i`m abbout to beat it, plot aint that great, gameply it is, graphics are great too, lenght i`d say a hardcore gamer would finish it in what 40 hours may be''??LESS?? what u guys think?
If you want to truly experience the game you can get more than 200 hours out of it. But if you don't want to create more than one character and don't want to try the multiple ways of beating the game, it's still going to hold you for at least 80 hours.
i dont like it....wait for fallout 3...( fallout 2 is my favorite game) but oblivion sucks...compared to good rpgs, the story is boring, talking to people SUCKS on the count of they are all hedious, there are no children in the world and social interactions are bad because of the dumb suggestion wheel (im not even going to explain that POS), what else, ALL of your good weapons wear out all the time and you have to fix them, the game is all auto leveling so it is incredibly easy, the fighting is cheap and boring, your charachter looks like a dumb prick no matter what, ....the loading times suck.....the only upside is exploring the terrain, and that gets boring....buy a x360 (if you dont have one, all 3) and buy mass effect

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you didn't have to throw that crap in at the end.

im sincerely sorry, i tried to say that i have "all 3 systems" but all that came out was ", all 3"
it is just an honest opinion about great american rpgs, i mean no disrespect to people that ONLY have 1 system, that is unfourtunate, and no disrespect to ps3 people
It is a game from teh Gods. The gameplay is open ended and incredible. You can do anything you want within a living, breathing virtual world and it can last as long as you want it to, reallyi was thinking of buying Oblivion but i dont know about it, what do u guys think, i mean story line, gameplay, controls and how long dose it last (hours)??

You should buy/play Oblivion if:
- you like to use your imagination and "get into" a role-playing game.
- you know that you should make frequent and/or multiple saves.

I enjoy this game very much, but it's not for everyone. If you are really hesitant, you ought to rent it. The thing is, it IS possible to "rush" through the main quest and feel as though you have "completed" the game. However, I suggest you take the time to enjoy the experience and imagine your character as a real person in the world of Tamriel. I purposely avoid pursuing the main storyline quests and just explore and enjoy the side-quests and many many dungeons and planes of oblivion.
there is over 100 hours easy in this gamecooldust80 hours if you RUSH through all the main quests 200 hours if you do all the quest and some of the side quests 500 hours if you do EVERYTHING, main quest, side quests, get all armor/weapons (powered up), explore the main land, do Night of the Nines, and Shivering Isle, and level up your player to the max. OH, and make sure you get the Game of the Year version. It has the main game, Night of the Nines AND Shivering Isles.
BOOORING! I HATE this game. Yes, you create your own character and it's hugely open-ended (if you like that sort of thing). It can take you a gazillion hours for you to beat this game if you do everything. The open-endedness and storytelling of the game is really different from JRPGs, so don't expect anything close. Not that it's not enjoyable, it's just really different.
The bad part? Combat is just ridiculously/astonishling boring and stupid. It is simply not fun at all, and there is no way I'm playing an RPG game that has boring combat. All you do is swing your sword around aimlessly (which feels horrible by the way) as you mow down badguys. Unless you really like aimlessly exploring a HUGE world doing numerous quests along the way, I don't see how anyone can forgive the painfully awful, awful combat system.
Its a blackhole when it comes to eating your time... It's fantastic!
Though if you got a top end pc... Go for that... Mods increase play time even more!
BTW its not mindless hackn slash when you put the difficulty up... It takes much more effort.
It's okay...I have mixed feelings about it.
It's addicting, but at the same time I don't know why I keep playing it. The battle system isn't very exciting, the quests aren't very diverse, and the dungeons all look the same.
...and yet I keep trudging along.
the main storyline and character were absolutely terrible. the missions were mostly basic fetch quests in only 2 different environments. but i will say, the dark brotherhood quests were really good. so i guess thats the strength of oblivion, something for everyone. LoG-Sacrament
What's great about the Dark Brotherhood quests? I haven't tried them yet.

they area actually creative. youre a hired assasin and it feels a bit like a medieval hitman game. i dont want to spoil the missions for you(theyget quite devious), but they are awesome. so go kill an innocent so you can start on those!

awesome storyline, good characters, and it's like hitman the game, where there's different ways to take out your targets, also the best rewards out of any quest.

I was the same way when I dove into. Didn't know jack all about it. But I just looked into it, read reviews, watched videos (a lot) and just gave it a shot. Almost 6 months later, never regreted buying it. I think the game is just simply great. I'm not even finshed it yet (but I do take breaks from it though) If you like RPGs and all (not just JRPGs) then this is a game to get. I find this defines the true meaning of the genere RPG. You can basicly do whatever you please and it's a HUGE sandbox type of world. There's no direct path to take, nothing leads you anywhere specific and "bam that's it". You can play this game for months without even touching the main quest. You can have as many active quests as you want and go do something else. This game is amazing to say the least. Full voice acting and no sitting through hours of text (if you don't like that kind of thing)
So yeah, if you like RPGs, Oblivion is for you no questions asked. I caution though, don't expect it to be Final Fantasy like, or any Japanese RPG type of game for that matter. If you're strictly into those, you may or may not like it. Personally, I'm a JRPG fan myself, but this game just blew me away.

:twisted:YEAH. The Dark Brotherhood was the first guild I joined. Actually it was the first set of quests I actually started with. I just started looting and killing anybody who noticed when I started to get a feel for the game and got a notice about someone watching me. I am glad I joined it though, it really helped with my combat skills BIG TIME. A lot of situations I would've got flattened if it weren't for those quests. It's a great way to get experience, plus it was REALLY FUN (hehehehe)
