When Wolfenstein 3d first came out it got many 10/10 scores. If it came out today people would laugh.
Expectations change over time and we constantly expect a higher quality of title. Oblivion was lucky not to get a much lower score one year on. Stop whinging.
Typically I don't make an issue over minor ratings differences between systems, especially when that difference is a measly .1, but for this particular title I feel that I must. Reading through the entire review it seems that his one major issue with the PS3 version is that it currently does not have access to the downloadable content. Since when are games reviewed on optional extra cost content? Although he mentions that the game does come with Knights of the Nine packed in, he doesn't mention that this content was essentially free and costs money for both the 360 and the PC. I am glad to see the game was given a high score but I am very disappointed to not see it as the highest rated of the three for what it offers straight out of purchase. Games are not rated on what future content may become available.VelricEh, it effects the value of the game, and it's lasting appeal and its replay value, etc. If a game has access to DLC, it's going to affect the value scores, and lasting appeal, which will go into the tilt. This version is going to miss out on a whole expansion, and they haven't announced any plans on bringing this content to the ps3, so when you think about it, those factors do come into play with a review.
[QUOTE="Baller91"]cuz the 360 is better (sarcasm)

cuz the 360 is better (no sarcasm)
Did u see the video comparsion for Oblivion on the PS3 and Xbox360? I am sure u will say the PS3's better.
GS giving it a 9.5 is extremely impressive. To only go from a 9.6 to a 9.5 after one year is very good. Saruman1719

I agree, the game has held up well for being previously released on two other formats a year ago. I am surprised it did not get a lower score simply because of that, even with the game being updated with certain things; graphics , loading, draw distance, and the such.
The PS3 version has supposedly better graphics, faster loading times, better draw distance and less choppiness. Yet 360 got a 10 in sound and PS3 got a 9... Why?
i was personally shocked that GS actually rated oblivion higher than a 7... because that is just how they are... I can understand if they wanted to give an obviously superior version the same score but lower even by .1 point is unexcusable. This kinda reminds me of GS and resistance.. i understand that resistance wasnt perfect but dang it deserved better than a 8.6.
Â
TRUTHFULLY WITH GAMESPOTS RECORD I WAS SURPRISED THAT THEY DIDNT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BETTER TEXTURE OR INCREASE FRAMERATE BECUASE OF COURSE THIS CHANGE "MARS" THE ORIGINAL EXPIRENCE... BECAUSE OF GAMESPOT MASSIVE ANTI-SONY CAMPAIGN I ONLY COME BACK TO GS TO COMPLAIN ON THE FORUMS
Â
Update:Â Actually I could understand if they gave the graphics a 9 becasue expections graphically have changed massively over the year, but sound doesnt really change so getting a 9 in sound just sounds kinda fishy like they were trying to pick a category that is hard to dispute.Â
I'm confused... does the PS3 version have any new content I can't get on the 360? ModernTimesIt comes with the Knights of the Nine mini-expansion, which is available as a $10 download for 360 owners, but other than that I don't think there's any new content. It's pretty much the same Oblivion you played last year except with better graphics, faster load times, bug fixes, etc.
