Just got it based on so many positive feedback from all around.  Anyway, since I started playing, I've stacked quite a load of side-quests that I have yet to begin just to focus on the main storyline.  Is ignoring all of the other missions going to come back and bite me in the ass or can I go back and get on them as soon as I'm done with the main quest.

well you underestimated yourself, thats not really a noob question, and i don't think it matters in which order you do the mission, i'm about 25 hours into the game and haven't even returned the Kings Amulet thing the that guy in Weynon Priory.

I'm fifty hours into the game, and haven't done anything regarding the primary storyline. Guild work FTW!

That's the beauty of the game, really; it has great open-endedness (is that even a word?)

Some side quests affect the main story line. Theres one where you can get this corrupt army guy sacked if you do this before a certain part of the main quest you lose him in the battle and as he's quite a good fighter this makes the objective more difficult. However generally doing the side quests will aid you finacially or stat wise which will help you in the main quest so play the game how you want. Such is the beauty of Elder scrolls.

They are side quests.  They have nothing to do with the main storyline.  You can do them whenever you want.  I played this game on 360 already so i know what its like.

for thte most part it will not affect you one way or the other what you decide to do first, but there are a few instances were beating the game first can lead to needing certain things for a side quest but nothing huge.

yea iv been playing for a while now(dont keep track). but going threw the guild quest gives u stuff which might help with the main story line. i would kinda go between each of them. but it kinda gets overwhelming. i dont know what to do first. going threw the guild quest will effect you but not much. another thing was that i was in bruma or some place and i got arrested and i punched the cell mate and the gaurds killed him. so now i cant complete it. the quest name was 2 sides of the coin. and the strategy guide does help alot. if you get lost in different quest and what not. but on the cover it said for PC and 360 but w/e its all the same game.

do w/e you want, but the side quest will get you additional items, weapons, and other stuff to help you along your main quest. its also a good way to lvl up.

nah just send me a message of the location and thanks alot man:D         but i have a quick question.. as some of you know here is a "dark brotherhood" that you can join if you kill an innocent person... the person i killed was some random lady that lived in a little shack out in the middle of nowhere haha.. so is it possible that in some point of the game that lady is supposed to be involved in a quest and she is dead already.. and if so, what happens?! haha

Looks like he proved you wrong on side quests having nothing to do with main quest.

i dont know i delivered the amulet right away then tried to go open the gate to oblivion in kvatch and i got killed like, 9 times.  so now im doin all sorts of side missions, i got my guy up to level 9, and i think im almost ready to go back and try that gate again.  I've been finding all sorts of really good stuff inside caves - stuff that's useless to me but worth lots of money.  I kept some stuff that was good, but there's other things i didnt want like rings that give you breath underwater - well i already have a ring that does that.  so i pawn it all off and get gold galore.

i did however find a very bad way to score lots and lots of gold!  Park yourself near a weapons shop, and kill someone.  the guards will attack you, and just keep killing them over and over again.  Grab as many of their items as you can - longswords, shields, armor, etc. and go in the shop and pawn it off.  If you do it for a short enough time, you should raise more money than it costs to have a doyen buy you off.  Right now I have $15,000 from doing that.  However, that was before i realized there was a fame/infamy rating.  now my infamy is at 14 and my fame is at 2 so im in deep caca trying to get my infamy down.  im trying to do the pilgramage but all the shrines havent been found yet, so they're not listed on my map.

Just don't beat the main quest, because then the game is over (I think).

As far as leveling up to "make the game easier" (a few people insinuated that in this thread) - you can gain items, gold, wepaon, armor, etc., but enemies level up just as you do.  The higher your level, the harder the enemies.

Yank, how long do enemies continue to level up, though? Do you know? :x I'm level 23, and I'm just absolutely trouncing everything that I come across now. The excitement I had garnered from combat is beginning to wane, as it's becoming more of just hack to hell until the thing I'm fighting is dead. I guess I'll just crank up the difficulty to about 75%ish. I mean hey, it'll give me something to do with the two hundred Damage Health potions I have in my house. :P

I find myself attached mostly to the Dark Brotherhood missions, but every now and then I finish up a few other side quests. I haven't touched the main quest for the past few days. I'm about 30 hours in with an average of 10 quests at a time. I'm already in 4 or 5 different guilds though.
