So I just started the game and played for a while and now I am stuck in that first gate in Kwatch or whatever that town is called. The quest is "Breaking the Siege of Kvatch" and when I get into the gate I barely manage to save Ilend Voniusbut then a fewof those monstersor whatever it is run to me and kill me in a few moments. I tried fireballs, healing, sword fighting, defending and all of that togetherbut these little ***** always take me down as well as my companion which is dumb as hell and got stuck on one spot trying to attack some monsterson ahill where he couldn"t even get.

I"m new to RPG genre and it all seems too difficult here. It"s great but I have to do everything myself (like equiping weapons, armor and such). So what am I missing in this game? I like to enjoy it but now it"s just frustrating.

According to Wiki, completing this part of the main quest should be the main priority when starting out. Because as you level up, the enemies also level up and the whole thing gets decidedly more tough going facing tougher enemies. The recommended level is 1 to 5 because your allies wear the same armour regardless of your own and Scamps are much easier than Spider Dredra and Deodrath. These latter enemies will make much shorter work of your allies. Although it's a fire plane of Oblivion the enemies encountered are weak to shock, not frost as you may logically think so bring shock weapons and any immunity to fire. Shock shield perhaps too although will be costly at low levels and does a goblin in the tutorial section have a shock staff???

I'm going to try this quest myself at low levels and see if it does make all the difference.

Cheers :)

To MGDobber: Wow you seem like youve spent dozens of hours in this game... And this how complex the gameplay is is fascinating about RPGs. its like DIY lol. i'll set the difficulty down and thanks for that shock-related tip that should help. this game will certainly suck a lot of my time later on... btw feel free to add me my PSN ID is VojNov2

it's all about grinding!! i completed the shivering isles expansion before doing the main quest and that gate gave me a little challenge as well...it's good to have companions fight with you, but don't go too crazy trying to keep them alive...oh and it's okay to run away to regain health ha ha ha

 Seriously? Have you ever played it ..

DO NOT do any other quests first .. this is the first quest you WANT to do .. as you level up, so do the monsters inside .. the higher level you are, the harder the quest is going to be ..

Regardless of what others have said, do that quest ASAP ..

Make sure you take the help Jauffrey gives you (opens a chest for you that gives you some swords and armor) .. if you have Destruction you should have a Frost spell that will make quick work of the little gremlins throwing fire at you.

It helps to also have a good amount of Strength, and just hack and slash them. The help you get from the guards should be enough to get you through it.

And like I said, you don't want to do this quest later when you're a higher level because it will becomes incredibly hard ..

Having to deal with the countless Frost Monsters and those dinosaur looking things, it can become a nuisance .. it's a lot easier on a lower level, especially for someone new to the game ..

You had a problem, just can't admit it .. ;)

im surprised nobody mentioned the easy solution: if you are really have difficulty in the game, go into the "start" then "options" (or i think thats the path, anyway)menu and lower the difficulty level.

actually i didnt but that is probably because i have a hardcore assasin character with the best bow in the game the dark brotherhood armor and master sneak so i just stayed in the back and got sneak attacks on everyone while my partners took all the damage and also i make a lot of poisons and potions so i could do fire damage on all the ice guys and ice damage on all the fire guys and i had a bunch of health potions

but i did die a couple of times just not enough to really consider having trouble with the part

no i use this special bow that you can only get from a free quest that you dont get from a npc you have to find this journal read it then go talk to this guy and he gives you so more info and then you find the rest of the journal and then that tells you where this really hard yeti boss is in the mountains (he is actually over by dive rock) but if you kill him you get this an ice bow that is exactly the same as the one you get from the darkbrother hood quest except that it soul traps enemies when you kill them

I just started playing this game recently and it is great! It gets a bit frustrating at times but if you remember to save wisely and such it's really a great experience. I had a real hard time with that part of the story as well. Forgot how i got through it. On top of all that I had gotten bit by a vampire and became a full fledged vamp. It took me sooo long to get cured omg. Still, awesome game! I am very interested in this special bow you guys speak of!

Wow from what I hear here from you guys, it seems I really picked the right game up. I"ll try those tips i found here but don"t know when. Don"t have that much time as I used to have for playing games:cry: But almost everyone here says that this Kwatch Siege is quite difficult.

BTW how long are those expansions? I have both as I picked GOTY edition:)

Broke the seige with a female lv.3 Wood Elf archer, closed the gate and reached the chapel. Cheers :)
