Oblivion vs FW 2.00/01 (no GOTY Edition)

I seem to be having a problem ever since the 2. updates with Oblivion. More than once, when it loads when you walk through doors, the other side doesn't show. Nothing but black screen, but the music still plays. Moreless, the whole thing just locks up. I've never had such a problem with Oblivion, and I've been playing since April. I'm curious if any other Oblivion players have this problem with this "update" stuff.

hey man i hate to tell you this but its not the update.

your save game was corrupted. Sorry to tell you but your going to have to start all the way over. Thats what happened to me and I called bethesda to confirm it. Sorry man.

I doubt that. This has never happend before. My save loads just fine. Corrupt saves don't load at all cause corrupt data is inaccessible. Nice try though.

i backup my save every 10 hours or so, i don't konw what it could be, a couple of my friends are playing oblivion stil and havne't mention any problems. i haven't played since the update though.americahellyeah

I know it's not save related. I actually have 3 going, Save 1 and 2 with Autosave. This has only happened since I updated my PS3 and I've been playing this straight all summer.

Well I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the suggestion though. Bunch of other games eh? That's weird. This is the first time I've ever known of something like this.

I never knew one person's sorry attempt to assume I was stupid to try to get me to delete my save, equals to myself assuming "everybody" is evil. You know how that sounds like right? I don't need to spell it out for you do I? lol

Yeah reinstall the game that should fix it. That's Sony's first line of defense when u say thta the game freezes...go and delete the GAME DATA.

I swear to god man i had to restart. Same problem. I would load and then enter a door and black screen had to reset ps3. They told me it was a corruption in the save file and i thought the same thing. I even did the reinstall of the 4 gig file or w/e still nuttin. Glad you got yours to work

Yeah I did it. Hopefully I won't run into the same problems again. Guess we'll see in time. I was just curious if this was a mass problem. Thanks for the suggestions.

Your post just sounded like a poor trick to get me to delete my file. But it's odd though, you'd figure a corrupt save file wouldn't load at all though. I'll run the real test either tonight or tomorrow, playing longer for it to happen.

Your post just sounded like a poor trick to get me to delete my file. But it's odd though, you'd figure a corrupt save file wouldn't load at all though. I'll run the real test either tonight or tomorrow, playing longer for it to happen.

that is correct, a corrupt save file will not load under any known circumstances, if you look at the file from the XMB and it looks normal, then it is. try loading a previous save file and see if it does the same glitch on there, if it does then it not your save files, it might be something more serious.

yeah, for instance, after 4 days and downloading all the .rar parts (from 30mb an hour Rapidshare, and the movie is 760mb total) i finally got Reno 911 Miami, only to have all my hard work have gone to waste with a single corrupted file, making the process of joining the files and ultimatly accessing the movie impossible! that was time well spent :roll:

I HATE that multiple file garbage. Or you get a video file and it's not synced with the sound lol

But anyways, back to topic. That's what I've been saying to that other kid there. That your save being corrupt is impossible, cause if you can load it, then it's fine. It's something with the game. If they told you it was your save, they were probley laughing their arses off after they hung up with you.

especiall when the could just use Sendspace or Megaupload and just up the whole file. i find running it through a converter usually resync's the sound.

well the onyl thing i think you could try is resetting the PS3 to factory default settings (not-formatting ;) ) deleting the install file (again) and try from there. also check if one of your other save files are doing the same thing first.

i gotta get up early tomorrow (well 10:30 :P) so gnite, hope your problem gets fixed.
