Dark Sector is fantastic!
Oblivion is okay, it's RPG-lite, the voice acting is brutal (other than a 20 second clip from professor xavier), all the dungeons are identical, enemies level with you, making it incredibly easy, the main story is useless...but, there is fun to be had, the dark brotherhood storyline rocks, the arena is good fun...anyways, yeah...
Go with Dark Sector.

No Patrick Stewart does the voice acting for the king, yoiu know Captain of the USS EnterpriseOblivion is probably the best game ever! 200 or so hours of game play. A completely open world that changes as you do stuff. Sure there are some problems with it, like the character voices - seriously you speak to 1 person they can have 3 separate voices, WTF! - there is also a bug in the PS3 GOTY version where you can't complete the quest to remove vampirism if you catch it. metacritics.com - average of 93/100. That says it all really. CellAnimation
LoL My character is lvl 9 and it is a vamp, dam i can't change back, so annoying, trying to find someone sleeping every 24 hours. Tip - DON'T BE A VAMPIRE!

They really should patch the game, a bug like this is unacceptable. Especially considering how easy it is to become a vampire.[QUOTE="battleboi333"][QUOTE="CellAnimation"]Oblivion is probably the best game ever! 200 or so hours of game play. No, the emporer is patrick stewart, who is professor xavier in the xmen movies.
Oblivion GOTY is the best game on the console. Has over 100 hrs of gameplay easily.
PS - Dark Sector is rubbish
But is the 3rd person camera any good?..the Fps cam looks really awkwardXyberZX
Oblivion's 3rd person camera is unusable if that answers your question. There's no game in history with a worse third person cam than Oblivion, everyone uses the FP mode, since, again, 3rd P = unusable.

Generic_Dude
I really really disagree that it has over 100 hrs of storyline, it main storyline itself is like 6 hours tops, and if you are a magic user, why the hell are you joining the fighters guild? If you are a fighter's guild member, why the hell are you joining the dark brotherhood? Many of the guilds completely conflict with eachother, and the only way to squeeze the maximum amount of time out of the game, would be to join all guilds, no matter what kind of character you are, which would defeat the whole "roleplaying" thing...
You know what the biggest annoyance is? The theives guild quest is the hardest, and the prize for completion is the worst, you get a cowl that makes guards attack you like crazy, and is therefore unusable in cities...lovely...

Pretty much everything that guy said was false.
- Oblivion is a fantastic RPG and forces you to do more "role playing" than any console RPG to date.
- The dungeons are similar at times, but no more so than any other dungeon crawler
- The voice acting is pretty good.
- The enemies leveling with you works well, and you can increase the difficulty setting if you wish
- The main story is decent, and many of the side quests are very entertaining
- Don't go with Dark Sector, its decent, but certainly not on the level of Oblivion

Except, no, no it doesn't, instead of role playing, you can be a warrior character who joins the mage guild, or a murderer who joins the warrior guild, your actions have no consequences at all, that's not exactly absorbing or deep "RP" now is it?
- The dungeons are similar at times, but no more so than any other dungeon crawler
Many of the dungeons are identical, like, same textures and all.
- The voice acting is pretty good.
I love how people who are speaking to completely break character and changes voices depending on what you ask them, I love how old street woman sound like young nobles if you ask the right question, that's some fantastic voice over quality there.
- The enemies leveling with you works well, and you can increase the difficulty setting if you wish
I could go into this for a few pages, but, here's one example: You could technically not level, and face nothing but scamps in the final battle when you are running to the temple of the one...
- The main story is decent, and many of the side quests are very entertaining
The main story is short and generic, many of the side quests have no story at all.
- Don't go with Dark Sector, its decent, but certainly not on the level of Oblivion
Correct, it's underrated, not overrated, that's a different level all together.
Despite all the bad things that were just said about Oblivion I still think its a better buy than Dark Sector. Dark Sector could probably be beaten in one rental. Oblivion ont he other hand has replay value and GoTY edition gives you 2 whole expansions to play around with (Shivering Isles being rather fun+twisted).
So yeah don't BUY Dark Sector cause if you're an online gamer you should be playing CoD4 or Warhawk.

Also, oblivion rocks. I won't compare the two because I blatantly haven't tried Dark Sector, but personally I loved oblivion and definately recommend it.
Voice acting - amazing, as in I love when the character's voices changed = hilarity.
Similar textures in areas is a fair trade off for the size of the game, so deal with it, you don't think about it unless you like being hard to please.
Who cares if you're a fighter in the mages guild or a Knight of the Nine in the dark brotherhood... it's all good, they're just different aspects of the game. You don't need to be 100% devoted to one playing style. And you can play for hundreds of hours, but I'm pretty sure if any game took that long to complete it would be a rare accomplishment.
That's not a bug... when you become a vampire you stay a vampire until you do a quest to find a cure.Sackley85... and like I said above that quest has a bug in it on the PS3 GOTY version that will not allow you to complete it.

Correct, it's underrated, not overrated, that's a different level all together.
1) Oblivion is the truest form of role playing because you actually have to do the things you want to get better at. Want to get better at making potions? You have to actually keep making them, or get trained by someone; you can't just kill the same enemy 500 times for points to be used on any skill you want. And yes, it is deeper and alot more immersive than RPGs that force your hand to go hear next and level grind to get your skills.
2) Of course many of the levels are similar in design, the story of the game is that they are either caves in the same region, or crypts build by the same race. Makes more sense than the standard RPGs that just throw you into the magical forrests, firery volcanos and castles in the clouds. Oblivion is about a realistic and seamless world, so yeah, caves in the same area and temple build by the same ancestors are going to be similar. What? Caves aren't supposed to have dirt walls? Castles aren't suppoed to have stone walls?
3) There are hundreds of NPCs all with spoken dialogue. There may be some quirks, but its alot better than countless pages of text to read, at least in my personal opinion.
4) Sure you could technically avoid leveling up and face the same guys....but why would you? That'd just be stupid. Most non-free-raoming RPGs have barriers; You get to the next area and all the sudden enemies are stronger, but if you go back to an old area, the enemies are laughable. Oblivion's system in necessary for its "go anywhere at any time" type of exploration.
5) I won't debate "under" or "over" rated with you because its all subjective. I'll just point out the average critic and user scores for Oblivion are much much higher and leave it at that.

Well, I did notice that the ARENA isn't on your list. Its not technically a "guild", but its listed in the "factions" page.
