Well, I got it tonight at my local Wal-Mart. This is the first time any ps3 game has ever made it there on ship day, so I was very very happy. The only complaint I have about it is that it only supports 480p/720p. I was hoping for a 1080 variant but maybe that would introduce more issues than needed (framerate?).

Impressions? OMG its so pretty. It has not hitched one time and is looking mighty gorgeous. I just got outside of the stupid sewers and I am now extremely happy that I spent my money on this. I am going to spend the rest of the night trying different things out and to see if it is any improvement over the pc version. So far, I am liking the way it controls on the six-axis (surprised), and am loving the way it looks on the 42 inch plasma.

Oh well, so much for a good nights rest.....

Load times are not so bad at all. I guess it has to do with the  4.6 GB or so of install space that it takes up. Oh well, for shorter load times I guess we must sacrifice.

I wouldnt say smooth as butter. Tell me that when your riding a horse LOL!  But yeah, its much better than the other versions so far.  Cleaner graphics, smoother framerates, and it hasnt froze on me yet which was my biggest gripe about the 360 version.

I picked up my copy of Oblivion today too. Runs absolutely beautifully. I agree about those damn sewers though :P. Took a while to get out of there but once you do, and really get into the world, its GREAT! I've only played for about 3 hours (homework, WHY TONIGHT!?!) and I have been just blown away with how well it runs and just the sheer number of things to do. I just completed my initiation for the Thief's Guild :D

Damn this sucks, I had a chance to get my copy today but I had to work. By the time I got out it was sold. Now I have to wait for 2 days or more. Hearing you people talk about it brings me to tears. Oh whoe is me

six-axis isn't used...I don't see how they could even have incorporated it into the game. I agree with everyone though, this game is beautiful! I hardly played though cuz I have an organic test tomorrow and bio report due, but I'll be playing shortly for a bit before I go to bed. It's definately going to detract from my Twilight Princess and NHL 2k7 time!!! Also, the sewers were boring!!! Boo the sewers!

This version of Oblivion definitely runs smoother and looks better than the Xbox 360 version. The main reason why I traded in my 360 version for this version was because my 360 version froze A LOT. I can't even begin to tell you how annoying I found this to be while trying to complete side quests for the guilds. Did anyone else who had the 360 version run into this problem? I was a little bit upset that the game didn't run in 1080i or better yet, 1080p, but the 720p output looks excellent. I think they chose 720p to allow more system resources to keep the frame rate high. The controls are good, but for some reason, I thought the controls on the 360 version were more intuitive. Casting magic feels a little bit weird on the SIXAXIS controller. Melee attacks and blocking feel very responsive though. Just my opinion though... All that matter is this: Oblivion for the PS3 is finally out! The first great game for PS3 has been released and from my first hour with the game, I think it can definitely be argued that the PS3 got the best version. It simply runs better than the 360 version; not to mention, I really think it looks better too. The lag that I felt while playing the 360 version is non-existent on the PS3 version. The outdoor environments look flat out better in that the textures are sharper and the colors are richer. You can also see far away in the distance with little to no distortion. Once you get out of the sewers you'll know what I mean. Perhaps this has something to do with the HDMI? Playstation owners are notorious for their love of RPG's. I am VERY HAPPY to see a superb PC/360 exclusive come to the PS3. For those who have not played this game yet, BUY THIS!

Word! Definately worth the three years wait to play this game!! Unfortunately I bought it for pc only to find out it wouldn't run on my computer : ( but the wait was worth while!
