Hey guys.

I was a big fan of the Oddworld game back in the PS1 days, and I was thinking of downloading the first one from the PlayStation Store, but first I have a question for anyone who already has got them, has Abe and his games aged well?

Most every PS1 game looks horrendous to me on HDTV. This one was no different (two of the Oddworld games were free for PSN+ members, so i did at least play around with them a little).

Even old favorites just look SOOOOO bad on my HD set. Maybe I should try it on a SDTV or something, I'm not sure I can tolerate going back and playing PS1 games on PS3..

The PS1 Oddworld games were 2D, so they look at least a little better that other games from the PS1, like FF7 or Silent Hill, for instance. Kind of like Castlevania SOTN. In terms of gameplay, the games are a blast, especially if you're the type of person who loves searching for secrets and hidden puzzles (not that you have to do these things to finish the game, but the option is there).

Go for it. Abe is still looking and playing great. I have it on my PSP, but it's still a viable game in the PS3 world. A good game is a good game, no matter what the resolution or aspect ratio happens to be, in my opinion.

They're both still great games that in my opinion have aged like wine. However, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee aged poorly compared to Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. The lack of quick-save in the first game makes it very difficult, especially when you try to locate all of the Mudokons and have to replay parts of the level over and over again. The graphics though still look good. Oddworld Inhabitants were always ahead of their time in that department.

Oddworld games were a mix of 2d platform and puzzle elements, and puzzles never get old as long as they make you work your brain. I know I would still enjoy playing it today if I could get my hands on it.

Abe has aged well, he looks like a fresh corpse.
