Hi everyone, here is my mini review of the Official Sony Wireless Stereo Headset for ps3

http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/accessories/ps3-wireless-stereo-headset/91191

****and look 9/10 : I really like the look, it's very sleek and stylish, I kinda of enjoy that it looks like there are two mini ps2 on the sides lol. They seem to be very durable except for the mic wich can be set at 3 different position and it seems like it could be broken off pretty easily. However if you are carefull it should not be a problem.

Confort : 8/10 : I find them pretty confortable. The cups cover the ears completly and the headset is'nt too heavy for me. All in all, very comfortable.

Sound and Mic 9/10 : Now i own audio technicas ATH-AD700 and you know what, the sound quality is just as good in my opinion. Given i am no audiophile, but i have nothing to say about the audio quality. There is nice Base, mid and highs and there is no buzzing from the wireless receiver. I can walk atleast 20 feet away in the kitchen without losing connection or sound! Awesome !! I can also connect the Headset to my PC, it works perfectly ecept for one thing ( you can't adjust mic level on the PC, ive tested it and the sound level of the mic is already set to a perfect level, no real problem here! ) The sound quality of the mic is also way above what the Playstation eye does or the bluetooth headset i used to use.

Ease of use :10/10 So easy it's crazy, plug in and play !! There is a slider for sound volume, slider for game sound vs chat sound, and you can mute with a easy press on the top of the mini ps2 lol! For the PC all you have to do is plug the dongle, go to your playback devices and recording devices and changing the inputs! Again pretty easy when you know what your doing !! You can also use them while they are recharging!

All in all, i give these Official Sony Wireless Stereo Headset a 9/10! Sony has got a winner here ! And they have a 1 year warranty! WIN!

PS: I am french so any grammar or structure problems in my sentences are absolutly normal!!

Any questions ?

Haven't used the entire battery life on them yet but the manuel says it's 7.5 hours on average, but like i said, you can used them while charging ( same chord to charge dual shock * not included by the way)

Also, forgot to say, when playing PS3 games, the VIRTUAL surround sound works great, for everything else it's in normal Stereo ( music, PC, videos in the XMB, Bluray movies are all in normal stereo!) Knowing that, this headset is still well worth it !

Yes they feel pretty sturdy except for the retractable mic thats more flimsy. I have small doubts on the plastic that holds the ear cups but time will tell and also the 1 year warranty puts my heart at ease.

Got my pair at an EBGAMES in Gatineau Canada, so yes it is available in canada !

I'm considering these. Do they replace the audio if I'm using a sound system or do you have to mute it manually.

I believe there is an option under settings on the PS3 menu where you can choose to use a headset as just a mic and have the sound come out of your speakers, or use it as both a mic and a surround sound headset.

The one downside to this is you can't switch between the two while in a game. You would have to exit to the XMB to change this setting

@ CajunShooter The above does not apply to this headset.

@ DivineMeliadoul I have had this headset for a few days now and I really enjoy it. The sound is simulated 5.1 or 7.1. Also, you can turn it on or off mid game. If you turn it on before you start a game then the audio will only come through the headset. You will hear nothing through your sound system. If for some reason you don't feel like using it anymore you can turn it off, even while in a game, and the audio will resume through your sound system.

They have really made the headset easy to use. There isn't even any synching with the Playstation. Like the OP posted, you can just plug in the dongle and the headset is ready to use and it even had on screen visual updates that let you know the sound level and if you have microphone muted or not.
