Got an official wired controller(bought as a spare and for 2 player games) which used to work. Since the latest system update it has stopped working, when you plug in the usb cable you get 4 flashing lights but when you press the middle button it doesn't come on. tried two different cables, one charges my wireless controller so should work. Tried the reset button on the controller. If I reset the Ps 3 settings will I lose my play station network stuff eg prestiged at least 7 times on black ops don't want to lose all that work.

Sounds like you got ripped off to me. First things first so you know in the future. If it doesn't say Sony on it, then it isn't official. And like everybody else has already stated. There is no official PS3 controller that is wired. I haven't even seen an off brand PS3 controller that wasn't wireless.

You asking "how do I get it working again" would imply that you already had it working once. So I ask you. How did you get it to work the first time?

You asking "how do I get it working again" would imply that you already had it working once. So I ask you. How did you get it to work the first time? Only cost a few pounds only used for 2 player/spare nothing compares to wireless just didnt want to spend loads on a spare. It worked before using usb cable plugged into port and controller. Since last update for ps3 stopped working if I reset the settings would this wipe out all my online stuff eg prestiged quite a few times on black ops wouldnt want to lose that. No he didn't get ripped off cuz I have the same problem and I have a ps3 afterglow wired controller at game stop and it works on my friends ps3 but like the dude said both Bluetooth and the controller won't work anymore on mine I called sony and they say since I don't have a warranty on it that I'd have to turn it in to sony to repair it or replace it for $99.00 + tax by credit card sony # 1-888-222-Sony (7669) ps wired ps3 controller are real
