um ya, you can achieve 720p and 1080i through component or HDMI, HDMI will give you the best picture though.

you don't have like 300-400 dollars for a 20-25 inch lcd tv that does 720p, or even a monitor?

No, you have an awful SDTV. Buying RCA was your first mistake. Your second mistake was going standard def. There is nothing you can do to improve the abysmal picture you are getting. Why would you think that you could just plug HD cables into a $200 tv? You can use a computer monitor, but not a laptop monitor unless it has DVI IN. If you do not know what DVI IN is, you need to read your laptops user manual (I am sure you can find it online).

Ok i just saw a 720p hdtv 15' for a little over $150 in a best buy catalog. Its not the greatest size but it will suffice for a cheap bedroom gamer.

You won't notice a bloody difference between HDMI video and component video.

Alright,   soooo im gonna check out monoprice for an hdmi cable.   but to make sure.........  Will it give me 720 p? for reals?  like just as clear and detailed as a reg hdtv?    thanks for any replies, im just new to this stuff.      oh and for the RCA tv, my dad won it at work so it was free, i know RCA sucks becasue its a cheap brand but its cool when its free, my parents will upgrade to hdtv like 60'' on
