I look at this year from the ps3 and know it has the best exclusive games of all the systems and yet it doesn't get the sales or respect it deserves, and the great exclusives for the ps3 don't sell like they should. I look at the sales and see that CoD #1000000 (WWII shooter # 500000) outsells the most original and refreshing game game to come out in years that can actually change gaming (LBP) and think wtf is wrong with ps3 owners? Do you guys turn down the games that make our system unique for the same old shooters? I love shooters as much as the next guy but come on, it's trends like this that stagnate the industry and kill innovation. I'd hate to see a game like LBP, that can get GOTY across the board, bc console owners are buying guitar hero #50000000000 and wwii shooter #20000000. It just encourages publishers from sticking to the same old stuff and discourages them from trying new things. I know that ppl like to stick in their comfort zones but it is trends like this that have killed excellent development studios (i.e. Clover who made Okami). So for all of you out there that hyped up LBP and then passed on it for something else? Why?

I know sony also shares a good portion of the blame for not cutting the price and advertising like they should but as a gamer who loves this industry, it makes me sick to see the shovelware on the wii outsell, or the generic multiplatform sequels outsell something original that has the potential to change the way we look at games. Is anyone else out there angry?

This goes for all systems not just the PS3.

In my experience parents always get their kids the cheapest video game system and that is why Sony is behind.

It takes the US a long time to move on from one genre. Even longer to appreciate and play every genre.

you can't just judge a games expected sales on a forums views on a game. Call of duty is a well known franchise, lbp is not. It 's like saying why the hell did sonic unleashed sell better than whatever, it's because it's well known to alot of people, despite it's quality.

I agree with you on the Okami thing, easily one of the top 10 best games for the PS2 but disgustingly underrated in terms of sales. Sadly though, even though LBP broke the generic shooter game trend and was refreshing, honestly, I got bored of it after a week of playing it. I'm enjoying Prince of Persia a helluva lot more.

More people like generic games, it's the same with movies so I really don;t see any reason to be shocked about this. I'd rather play Rock Band than LBP, because it's more fun. To me anyways.

Plz don't talk like that. It's obvious what you're indicating but the notion that seeing everything in one place behaves the same way is an act of prejudice.

Anyways, I agree that the PS3 sales aren't nearly close to what they deserve, but thats due to a lot of factors. Primarily, Sony isn't doing the advertising M$ and nintendo are doing. In fact, I don't see any ads ANYWHERE!! The fact that the sales of gears2 completely blowing R2 out of the water is because there's the trend of M$ always marketing the hell out of their leading 1st-party titles. Halo 3, halo 2, and gears 1 all had some pretty massive advertising, while what did we see with any of sony's 1st party games?

And second, over the recent years there's the norm that's been developed in that most games everyone are hooked on is undisputedly FPS's. It's accessible and hardcore enough for most people to get into, CoD4 is the perfect example of this. As much we all love the term and would like to see it, "innovation" is only a politically-correct term in the games industry(gosh I hate the term "politically-correct"). The audience likes hearing the word "innovation", but in the end every FPS is played the same way as it is now and since the days of CS 1.5.

I don't think most people buy a gaming system to show which game developers they like. Most people buy the games they want and enjoy, period. I'm not going to spend my money just to spread good will and creativitiy when I don't care anything about what they are creating. I have bought all the big PS3 exclusives this year, but certainly not out of loyalty or to pin a Sony badge to my sleeve.

Though your post was difficlut to decipher, I'll just say again that it was a light-hearted comment and of course I wasn't serious...lemme put a big ol' smiley face up so you get the picture -----> :)

two thingsare most to blame IMHO. price and poor marketing. when you figure every thing up the ps3 is worth the mony sony is chargeing. but for the averge uninformed shoper the 399/499.99 price tag gives sticker shock. add to that that you cant watch tv for 5 secounds with out seeing a 360 comercial or even a wii add every other page in a magazine lol. i think sony has tried to hard to rely on name brand recognition. try to drop that price and spread the word.

What are you guys talking about? I'm in the U.S. and it is not like people are SCARED to buy a new genre. You guys are making it out to be like people in the U.S. and Japan are like "Oh God, a new genre... Oh no I'm too scared, I can't do it I just can't muster up the courage to spend my money on something that I am interested in and that I think would be fun." #1. Casual people who don't go on gaming sites see LittleBigPlanet as a little kids game and rightfully so because just look at the cover. You can't blame them. They don't know that its an innovative and fun game for adults and kids alike. Secondly Sony does a very poor job of advertising effectively here in the U.S.

A little less extreme. Like....Taking it only 66% seriously. It allows for a more flexible way to explain yourself better than this:

I think it has a lot to do with the economy. Sense the money right now is so tight, people can't just spend their money on a game that they don't know if its good or not. Like myself, I bought COD:WW because I new it was going to be good like COD 4. I wanted to try out LBP, Fallout or Civilization but I couldn't afford to get a game I don't know is going to be great with what little cash I have. I also think this goes for a lot of other people.

Only if you can accept the fact that some people want to play more than shooters. Though we have a bit more than shooters now, it's still a pretty big difference.

I wholeheartedly accept that fact. I myself am not the biggest fan of shooters, I was just pointing out something the TC may have missed.

Umm, its not even LBP.... To me it seems that PS3 owners are very conservative. R2 is not selling as well as many thought, Uncharted, after all the hype hasnt even broken 1M in NA, Despite selling over a million copies for Motor Storm 1, PD has only sold less 150k, Fallout 3 only 350ish, Farycry 2, 150ish. At some point its not even Sony's fault, there is something else we are missing completely.

Partly I agree. Look at the sales of Gears of War 2 ( 3 Million worldwide ) and Resistance 2 ( less than 1 Million ) both are AAA titles but somewhat PS3 owners don't buy Resistance
