Ol 'Buddy, Ol' Pal

It finally died yesterday afternoon, in the Mojave Wasteland, near Primm.My PS3 of 3 and a half years took Fallout New Vegas with it.

My almost launch 60gb did well. Enduring many all-nighters, on such games as Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty: World at War and DiRT 2. Not to mention all the other games played including NHL, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and most recently, Fallout: New Vegas, as well as many others.

Yesterday afternoon it froze. I thought it was just fallout being fallout, but then it beeped 3 times, and a red light was flashing. I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, and it didn't respond. I left it unplugged overnight, and still nothing. I just finished taking it apart, vacuuming it's insides, and re-assembling it. And once again, nothing. Is there anything else I can do?

If not, i'm probably going to get a slim tomorrow. I'm not fond of the design (in fact, I hate it), but its my only option. Does anybody know of any good deals in CANADA? I'm thinking of getting the bundle at Best Buy that comes with NHL 11 and Infamous. Then selling those games to get New Vegas again.

Ya, get a slim. They last longer too. And I thought the Best Buy bundle came with Little Big Planet, Modnation Racers, and Cars Bluray....not NHL 11 and Infamous. I got my bundle at Best buy for 299.99 and it came with those items.

yea. I would consider driving a few hours across the border if I found a really good deal though.

My fat 40 gb launch date ps3 died on me last year... she was 4 years old.. I buried her... and wept for days.. a couple months later... brand new slimer and sexier 120 gb for 299.. happiness :), I havent cheated on her yet. lol

Sorry to hera that man but I've had my Slim for over a year and love it. Defintely a great buy but trading NHL in for Vegas?? HELL NO! LOL I am a die hard Hockey fan so I wouldn't take care dudehkymike

Haha don't worry, I already have NHL 11. I just want to get the bundle because it comes with 2 games that I can trade in later, for the same price as the console.

whaT a horrible console generation. gamecubes and Xboxs from last gen never had this issue (ps2 had the drive read errors though). personally i have a launch 360 that has been replaced on day one, and repaired twice.

Big business in the 21st century, huh? Cheap parts + expired warranty = increased profit. Unfortunantly, I'm certain this will be accepted as the new standard for console gaming. If it does, I may actually bite the bullet and move onto PC gaming :cry:

Sorry to hear that your Launch Playatation 3 60giger died on you. As for the Slim in Canada. Currently the NHL 11 and infamous bundle is the only PS3 deal happening at the moment. Sorry to hear about the loss of the 60giger

I went ahead and bought the 160gb/NHL11/inFamous pack. I'll probably sell the games, as I have NHL 11 already and I didn't like inFamous.

And then I repaired my old 60gb. I'm hoping the fix will last long enough to transfer the data to my new PS3. After that, if it still works, I'll probably just use it as a blu-ray player for my other TV. The only thing is I need to fix/put a new Blu-Ray drive in it. I screwed this one up by forcefully taking out my New Vegas disc.
